Nashville Nights

Gone

I was hurting real bad from the creature's attack on me earlier, and yet I was somehow still brave enough to ask Tris, "What do you want us to do to protect the team?" That was the moment the tiger charged at Tris, the two goalies, and me.
Her response was, "Take them outside and run! Don't look back, no matter what you hear! You hear me?" As she turned towards the beast that attacked me earlier, I did exactly what she told me to: run.
The two older goalies, Rinne and Hutton, were in front of me as we ran towards the goal: our cars. I was trying to keep up with them, and succeeded quite well. I heard someone-or something- whacking something into concrete. It sounded quite painful, and my only thought was, Don't let it be Tris getting hurt. And why was I, a NHL rookie, so concerned about a secretary?
The answer was quite simple: I have a crush on her. Next to out trainer, she is the only woman I know that would protect us from whatever came our way. She doesn't care about the consequences about her actions to her; she only cares about what happens to other people.
We ran to our cars, and the moment that I stepped out of the doors was when Weber closed them, saying, "Don't want that beast to get out . Is everyone here?"
I see the head trainer, Kristina, making her rounds and counting to make sure everyone was here. She stopped when she saw Rinne, Hutton, and me. She looked around us to see if Tris was behind her. Then, she asked the three of us, "Where did my sister go? Did you lose her?"
I answered her, "No, she sacrificed herself for the three of us. The beast attacked, and she went to go fight it off."
Kristina then stopped for a minute and looked around at all of the players to see if we were playing a prank on her. I wasn't trying to prank her by saying that. I was telling the truth, and somehow, she needed proof. So, I hobbled over to Tina and started telling her what happened from when she left to go lead the front of the pack.
Her response was to start looking around for her baby sister, mumbling to herself about Tris and how she didn't need to pull a sacrifice. No matter how much I wanted to help her on her search, I was unable to, because of my injuries. I had reopened one of the cuts and was trying to stop it. Tina, after giving up on looking for her sister, came over to me and started treating me. "While I am treating you, maybe try giving Tris a call for me."
She tossed her phone over to me and gave me directions on what to do to dial her. I started to dialing her number. The only thing I got was her voicemail, which said, "Hello. You've reached the voicemail box of whoever I am today, it could be Shannon or Tris. I can't take your call right now, probably because I am reading or didn't hear my ringtone or I am busy with traveling stuff with the Predators. I will call you back as soon as I beat my sister in whatever competition we are playing or as soon as I find my phone. Leave your name and a message, and I will call you back as soon as I find my phone. Stupid invisible phone!"
So, I left her a message: "Hey Tris, it's me, Kay. Your sister told me to call you to see where are you are. Where are you? Hope you are okay." I hung up on the voicemail.
Tina comes to me and says, "Any response?"
I say to her calmly as I break down inside, "Nope. She's gone MIA." Kristina breakdowns physically as some of her teammates-no, her brothers- try to comfort her. She stopped treating me, so I decided to go see if I could find the phone in question.
I walk near my truck and see a smaller black car next to it. I thought it was funny how my truck dwarfed the car next to it. It didn't belong to any of my teammates because I didn't recognize it, and it wasn't Tina's car either. I looked around it and found Tris' cell phone and the keys to the car. Both items were near the back right tire, almost right under the car. I saw a blue light on the phone, blinking to show a missing phone call.
I ran to Kristina and showed her the items. I knew what that could only mean: Tris was gone, and there was no way to contact or find her.
