What Happens in the Locker Room...

The Discovery That Changed Everything

For the next few weeks perky Anna Maria and nervous Anna Maria switched places every other day or every few days. Finally nervous Anna Maria turned into more of a scary, short tempered Anna Maria. As the weeks went by perky Anna Maria made fewer and fewer appearances, and when she did show up she seemed to be looking over her shoulder.

Lots of other things were happened over the next few months, the Caps were on a win streak, and Mike had started going out with the new lady from accounting, Darcy. Around Christmastime, Mike, Darcy, Alex, Tom, and Brooks were the last ones left after practice. Everyone else was gone.

“Mike,” said Tom, “Have you seen my stick tape? I left it on top of the shelf, but now I don’t know where it is.”

“Check those drawers.” Called Alex. “Maybe someone move it.” Tom looked through all of the drawers and found nothing, until he came to the last drawer. He saw the chest Anna Maria had hidden.

“Uh, what's this?” He asked. Everyone came in a little closer. He showed then the old wooden box covered in scratches.

“No idea.” Said Brooks.

“Open it.” Said Darcy. Tom undid the latch on the side and opened the chest. Inside was a navy blue journal and a handwritten letter. Tom opened the letter and read it aloud,

“If you found this, put it back. Forget you found it. Don’t let your curiosity get the best of you. She won’t let you go.” Everyone stood in silence.

“Open the book.” Said Darcy.

“The letter says not to.” Said Tom.

“So you scared?” Asked Alex.

“No.” Said Tom. He opened the journal. The inside cover was stamped with the words “St. Elizabeth’s Psychiatric Hospital” The first page was full of squiggly lines and stick figure people. The second page was an entry written in perfect handwriting. Tom read it aloud “They tell me I am wrong, but I do see them. I see them everywhere. I want to know why they tell me I am ‘not fit to live on my own’ and why the door on my room says ‘mentally unstable’. Anna is an exact copy of me. Why is she considered ‘mentally stable’? Dude, what the fuck is this?” Asked Tom after he read the second page. No one answered. Just then Anna Maria ran in.

“No. No.” She said. “Why did you read that? No. This is so bad. She’s coming here now. You can’t stop her. Shes crazy. She can kill.”
