With the "Enemy"

Sorry

"Steve, we really need to talk sometime soon." Jackie regretted those words as soon as they left her mouth. Not only did it make Steve curious, but it also gave him the idea that something was wrong.
"Sure thing Baby," Steve said, "when?"
"As soon as possible, I think I'm going to try to go down to Philly to see Claude sometime," Jackie said, hoping Steve got the idea.
"When are you going to try to do that?"
"I week maybe," Jackie shrugged, "I think I can squeeze in a visit."
"Sounds good, see you then," Steve said hanging up the phone.
"OK, bye," Jackie whispered.
To say Jackie Giroux felt bad would be an understatement, she felt like she just ran over someone's puppy. Not only is she going to break her best friend's heart, she didn't mind that much. It might have been different if that person wasn't't like her second brother. If it was Malkin instead of Steve, Jackie would probably feel a lot worst.
In the big picture, Jackie was just saving Steve from a bigger heart break. She was going to go talk to Crosby soon and she didn't was Steve to be in between her and what she now knew she wanted.
After a lot of thinking about everything Sid, Tuukka and everyone said, Jackie now knew Sid was the one she wanted to be with. She didn't care that her brother might end up killing her. She didn't care wash at anyone will think. Most of all she didn't care what Steve Mason might think when he saw her with Sidney Crosby.
Jackie Giroux has never felt more free in her life. All the pressure of being Claude's sister, all the pressure of trying to be the perfect female hockey player was off her shoulders. Jackie realized right now that no one controlled her life, it was her's after all.
"Claude, where are you?"Jackie asked a week later. He was suppose to come pick Jackie up from the airport half an hour ago.
"I'm sorry, but I got stuck in traffic, that happens when the Eagles play the Cowboys," Claude retorted.
"There's football still going on?"
"Yes, it goes till February."
"Oh, how much longer?" Jackie asked.
"I don't know? Fifteen minutes maybe," Claude said.
"OK, text me when you're here."
"Will do."
Jackie decided now was a good time to try and get ahold of Steve. She already knew that she could talk to him the next day, Jackie just hoped that he would agree to it.
Jackie spent 25 minutes on her phone when she saw that her brother texted her: come out i am here
"Hey Claude," Jackie said as she sat down in the seat next to her brother.
"Hi Jackie, you coming to the game Tuesday?"
"Don't see why not, but I leave Wednesday," Jackie told her brother.
"OK, last time i checked Tuesday wasn't Wednesday," Claude laughed.
"Shut up."
Can we meet up tomorrow Jackie texted Steve.
Sure, when
How does 12 work?
That's fine
Great
Jackie spent the the rest of the day and the next morning hanging out with her brother. She was also worrying about the next day with Steve and what he would think. She didn't want him to hate her now, but that was more than likely going to happen.
"Hey, I'm going to head out for a bit," Jackie told Claude the next day.
"OK, have fun with whatever."
Jackie headed into downtown Philadelphia looking for the place she agreed to meet up. Jackie was starting to have second thoughts about what she was about do, but deep down she knew it was the right thing to do.
"Hey Jackie," Steve said wrapping his arm around her.
"Hi Steve," Jackie whispered.
"What's wrong baby?"
"We need to talk."
"Ok, sure. About what?" Steve asked.
"I-I don't think this is going to work out."
"What?"
"I don't think you and I are going to work out," Jackie repeated.
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"I'm sorry Steve, it's just not working out," Jackie cried.
"You know what, get out. I don't want to see you right now or ever in the near future," Steve almost yelled.
"I'm sorry," Jackie whispered.
She headed out, she needed to get away from everything for a little bit. She felt bad but it was the right thing to do in Jackie's mind.
