AAOOOSC! #10

"NO, NOT THE TIGER, NOT THE TIGER!!!"

Not too far away from John’s house, John himself is standing on the roof of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. He is standing above the area where the opponent of tonight’s game, the Pittsburgh Penguins, are strolling into the building.

But John is not looking at the Penguins waddling by, he is actually focusing all of his attention on his newly developed power erasure gun.

“I must finalize this preparatory to the inception of the pregame,” John mutters to himself as he screws in some bolts underneath the silver-coloured gun, near the trigger. “And this is the one place I can keep at this in the absence of getting caught red-handed or interrogated.”

The gun starts to slip in his hands. “No--!” He grabs the handle of it for a better grip.

And pulls the trigger.

“Bloomin’ heck!”

A beam of white energy bursts from the nozzle of the gun, whizzing down, down, down in an arch.

Meanwhile, down below in the beam’s way is Olli Määttä, moseying toward the arena. He hears the odd fizzling sound nearing him, so he peers up to see what is that sound.

His blue eyes grow wide as he spots a ball of white energy flying at him.

“Yikes!” he exclaims with fear in his eyes.

Then a flash of white light is seen from the roof.

John has his eyes as wide as saucers, staring out at the area the energy was once flying through. “Balderdash, what did I do...?!” he mutters to himself as he sprints over to the edge of the roof.

He peers down, seeing no person nearby. But he does see a pile of clothes and a hockey bag along with a hockey stick close by.

“Hello?” he shouts out. “Is anyone thereabouts? Anyone up to snuff?”

The clothes being to shift a bit; John holds his breath with his eyes glued on the lively clothes.

Then, a furry, white cat springs out from the clothes, gazing around with awe in his big, blue eyes.

John makes a bewildered look. “A feline?”

The cat snaps his gaze at John; his vivid eyes pierce right through him. The cat then turns around and trots away into the arena.

“I must come behind him.” John pushes himself away from the edge, slips his gun under his coat, turns around, and rushes to the stairs that leads into the arena.

After clamouring down the flight of stairs and going through a door, John ends up in the hallway where the locker rooms are located. “What’re the whereabouts that feline?”

Then on cue, the white cat trots toward John’s direction.

“There is it! Halt, feline!” John rushes toward the cat.

But then the cat makes a turn into the…

“Oh,” John groans as he sees the Penguin’s symbol on the side of the doorway of the room the cat just went into. “I’m not permitted go thereabouts…” He slowly turns back around and ambles down the hallway. “I’ll obtain that feline in the twinkling of an eye… Transform him back to the ordinary.”

In the locker room of the Penguins, Coach Johnston is standing in the middle of the room while all the Penguins are sitting at their appreciate locker stalls, suiting up for the game.

“Roll call...” Johnston huffs out as he fumbles with his clipboard. “Let’s begin: Bennett?”

Beau Bennett perks up from attempting to remove his elbow pad from the inside of his skate. “What?”

“Roll call,” Johnston tells him flatly.

“Oh, how do you roll calls?” he asks with a goofy expression.

Johnston shakes his head and looks back at the clipboard. “Crosby?”

Sidney is already suited up, sitting with his legs dangling from the bench of the stall. “Here, Coach!” he exclaims happily with a closed smile.

“Dupuis?”

Pascal Dupuis halts in his stick taping. “Here!” He then continues taping his stick.

“Fleury?”

Marc-André Fleury is leaning back coolly in a corner, smacking on gum with his cap on backwards. He nods. “Yo.”

“Kunitz?”

Chris Kunitz looks up from ironing his alternative brown-coloured Pittsburgh Gorillas jersey. “Here-y, Coach!”

“Letang?”

Kris Letang keeps his eyes on his hand-held mirror as he is brushing his brush, through his luscious black hair. “Present,” he calls out with an elegant tone.

“Määttä?”

There is silence in the room.

Johnston repeats Oilli’s surname again: “Määttä?”

A meow is heard near Kris’s area. “Miau.”

The coach perks up from his clipboard with knitted eyebrows. “Määttä?”

“Miau.”

“Määttä?”

“Miau.”

Johnston looks fed up with the cat sounds. “Where is that meowing coming from and where is Määttä?”

Kris feels something climbing onto his left shoulder; he turns and comes face-to-face with a pair of bright, blue eyes with white fuzziness around them. He slowly puts down his mirror and points to the cat on his shoulder. “How did this cat get on my shoulder?”

Johnston frowns at Kris. “Tanger, what have I told you about keeping your pets at home?”

“That’s not mine!” Kris cries, still pointing to the cat warily. “I don’t have any pets, Coach!”

Beau eyes the cat with awe and giddiness. “Oh hey, look! Kitty!” He leans over toward Kris, scoops the big, furry cat into his hands and pulls it into a hug. “Aw, you’re so cute and fluffy! I’m gonna keep you!” he says like as if he is talking to a baby.

Brandon Sutter chuckles with a smirk as he sees Beau cuddling with the cat. “Hey, Geno, is that yours?” He reverts his gaze at Evgeni Malkin.

Evgeni turns to Brandon. “No. I am only have big cats.” He gets up and lumbers out of the room.

He then returns, this time leading in an orange, Siberian tiger.

Everyone’s eyes fly open at the sight of the tiger. “NO, NOT THE TIGER, NOT THE TIGER!!!” they yell out.

Evgeni chuckles deeply as he sits back down at his stall. He pets the tiger; the tiger sits down and enjoys the treatment.

Everyone is eyeing him with fear in their eyes.

Evgeni frowns at them. “Fine, fine,” he states in his Russian accent. He gets up. “Come on, Rozi.” He lumbers out of the room with his tiger, Rozi, following him out.

Evgeni then comes back, this time carrying his fluffy bunny in his arms.

Everyone, including the atmosphere in the room, relaxes; they all go back to what they were doing.

Beau pets the cat’s back in his arm. “Where did you come from, you cute little thing? You know what? I should name you! I’ll name you…” He narrows his eyes in deep thought at the cat. His eyes then brighten up. “I know! Spikey! Because you’re...spikey!” He scruffs the cat’s fur on his neck. “See?” He gazes out at the room. “But I wonder where Olli is…”

Spikey gazes up at Beau with huge eyes. I am Olli! I got turned into a cat by Tavares! Beau! Beau! He paws Beau’s face to grab his attention.

Beau peers down at him. “Awww, you wanna shake hands?”

No! I just want to let you know that I AM OLLI!

Beau grabs Spikey’s paw and shakes it. “Nice to meet you, Spikey!"

I’m Olli Määttä! Spikey lowers his head. This is going to a rough time as a cat. Thanks a lot, Tavares.
