Something Isn't Missing [Tyler Seguin]

Chapter 10

(Jae’s POV)
As the school day comes to a close, I’m called down to the athletic’s office, which I find strange but still go anyway. I find a familiar someone talking to my coaches. Weird.
I knock on the door and my school coach opens the door and invites me in. He introduces me to my agent, who just so happens to live down the street from me, which is why he looks familiar.
“Jess, I called you down to tell you that your agent, Stephen Wilson, called this meeting because of the OHL draft that happens in a few weeks.” My coach for my high school team tells me, I nod to Stephen and my regular coach before sitting down on the chair at the end of the table.
“What about the draft?” I ask, confused.
“Well, I wanted to inform your coaches that you may not be returning to playing under them next year. You’ve been selected to be in the mix for the OHL draft this year.” As soon as I hear the words exit my agent’s mouth, my jaw drops and my eyes water up.
I never thought I’d actually make it somewhere playing in a guys’ league, I’ve always just played on guys’ teams.
The meeting goes on for another few minutes as the final bell rings and I go up to my locker to tell Tyler. After kinda hauling ass up four flights of stairs, I get to my locker to see my lovely boyfriend waiting for me with his back slung over his back and the hallways begin to clear.
“Hey, what the hell were you called down for?” He asks me, kissing me.
“I’m actually fuckin’ making it, dude. I’m being invited to the OHL draft.” I tell him, a giant smile breaking across my face, which is soon mirrored on Tyler’s. He hugs me, picks me up and spins me before putting me back down so I could get my shit out of my locker.
“I’m so proud of you, baby, I knew you’d be the one breaking the barrier in guys’ leagues, didn’t I call it?” He tells me, grabbing my hand and leading me down the stairs.
“Yes, you called it, Ty, I never really believed you until now.” I tell him, squeezing his hand. We mutually decide to pop down to the athletic office to ask coach about practice today, which we find out has been cancelled because of some figure skating bullshit.
As we begin walking down the block to the bus stop, it starts down-pouring.
“Jesse?” I hear my agent say from a car window.
“Hey Mr. Wilson, what can I do for ya?” I ask him, leaning against the passenger side door.
“Call me Stephen. Do you guys need a ride home? It’s pouring and I know you guys live down the block from where I do and you guys don’t have an umbrella.” He asks both Tyler and I. I look back and Tyler silently tells me to accept, which I do, as we both climb into the back seat of Stephen’s Jeep. The drive is kinda full of small talk, mainly revolving around which team may take me in the draft and whatnot.
“Is it uncomfortable for you to hear us talking about the draft?” I ask Tyler, quietly.
“No, not at all. I have a meeting with my agent in like an hour or so, which is why you can’t come over right after school, I have a feeling that that’s the reason that he’s coming over.” He reassures me.
The draft talk continues until we reach the front of my house. I thank Stephen for the ride and we arrange to have him get into contact with my “family” and discuss what the draft entitles. I kiss Tyler before I head into my house, which isn’t empty.
I slip into the house and say hello to my (surprisingly) sober family. I tell them that practice was cancelled but it’s still on for tomorrow, and they nod in response. I head up to my room and change before starting some homework, wearing Tyler’s shirt and sweater.
At dinner, my ‘dad’ asks me about the draft, so clearly he was told too. He gives me Stephen’s phone number so I could arrange things with him, which he mentioned he wanted to do so he could get to know me. As soon as dinner is over, I head upstairs and finish my home. Once that’s done, I take short nap.
I wake up a few hours and everyone in my house is asleep. I check out my window to see Tyler’s light on, which means he’s awake. I shine a laser pointer through his window, which is our sign of “wanna go somewhere?”. He texts me saying yes and to give him a few minutes to get ready.
I tug a bra on, not bothering to change because I’m wearing something that is socially presentable. I shove my pack, cash and keys into the pockets of my sweatpants before grabbing my phone and heading down the fire escape to meet Tyler outside his house.
