Chapter 2: learning Pittsburgh

Training camp started and Sid was starting to learn from some of his teammates about things in Pittsburgh

But when he had off time and Cassie could hang out she teaching him all about the city he now called home

She took him to the point and showed him the strip district which at first he didn't get the name as it was just places to eat and pick up specialty food items it seem

Today when he was done with practice she told him they were going to eat at a place called Primanti Brothers and she was going to show him the best view of Pittsburgh

He changed and headed out knowing she be waiting as she had come down from school at Pitt to meet him today

“If it isn't the hockey god himself” Cassie says laughing as she saw him

"Very funny I became friends with you cause you don't see me that way” Sid says

"Oh ok wow it's that horrible center we drafted and wasted that first pick we won in the lottery on, that better” Cassie asks

“You're too much you know that” Sid says as they head to his truck

“I aim to please” Cassie says as they get into the truck

"So where is this place you want to eat at” Sid says

“The strip” Cassie says

“That still is weird to me the name you have for that part of town” Sid says Cassie shakes her head as they drive parking close to the restaurant they walk in and get a table

When the waitress comes over Cassie says “we will have two of your cheesesteak sandwiches and I will have a coke to drink”

"And for you” she says to Sid

“I got your sandwich just give her your drink” Cassie says

“What if I don't like cheesesteak” Sid says

“Too bad it's their best sandwich” Cassie says

“Ok I will have a water to drink” Sid says She brings the drinks and food back and Sid just looks at the sandwich and says “what in the world is on this”

"French fries and cole slaw” Cassie says

"No not eating this” Sid says

"Just shut up and eat it Sidney trust me you like it and thank me after” Cassie says

Sid took a bite and realized it was actually good Once they were done eating Cassie asks “well how was it”

"Actually amazing now i see why you talked so much about this place” Sid says

"Ready for to go see the best view of Pittsburgh” Cassie asks

“Oh yeah” Sid says She had him drive to station square and had him park at the Duquesne incline

“We are taking the incline up trust me it's the best way to go” Cassie says

It was just starting to get dark and Cassie knew before the came back down from Mount Washington the city would be lit up for the night

“Wow look at it” Sid says as the incline started up the hill as he looked out at Pittsburgh

“You haven't seen anything yet hockey god” Cassie says

They got to the top and Cassie led him out of the building to see the city from Mount Washington all lit up

"Amazing look at the view and the city in the lights” Sid says

“Pretty damn amazing right” Cassie says

“Yeah it is thank you for showing it to me” Sid says

“Your welcome but I had another reason for bringing you up here” Cassie says

They were only a few days away from the season starting and Cassie wanted him to realize this was his city his team and felt seeing the city from this view would help that

“What the other reason” Sid says looking out at the city never looking at her

She stood near him and says “For you to see the city and realize that's your city Sidney and a hockey team down in that city is your team. Not only do your hockey dreams live by what happens with them but so does a city of fans especially young kids who need a new hockey hero you're that guy I felt seeing the city this way might give you even more inspiration”

“It does but trust me I am not being cocky here but I know what's at stake and don't intend to lose my dreams or any of that of the people of this great city” Sid says

“I know and I know cause we have become friends over the past month and I know what respect you have for the game and that you're truly a guy who will always honor it” Cassie says

"Thanks and thanks for becoming my friend I know at times I can be difficult and how my life can be but being friends with you and just being Sid instead of Sid the kid it's what I need” Sid says

"Your welcome and I am glad we have become friends” Cassie says smiling

"Me too” Sid says smiling back He was ready for his NHL debut and it was thanks to what Cassie a girl who was quickly becoming his best friend just gave him
