Chapter 8

Road trip to Pittsburgh

Sid was finishing packing his truck with the stuff that was coming back to Pittsburgh with him They were getting a early start but would take most likely two days maybe three to get back to Pittsburgh as they were going to make a few stops on the way.

Cassie thanks Sid family for having her up for a few days They were happy to have her they said Sid said his goodbyes to them as much as he was happy to be going back to get ready for the hockey season he hated leaving home and his family. “Can't believe summer is almost over” Cassie says as they start on to the road

“It went by quick I am so glad you got to come up here for a few days” Sid says

"Yeah me too” Cassie says

@ How has summer been” Sid asks

"Ok I worked a lot cause they had extra hours to give and figured put the money away for if I need it during school year” Cassie says

“You going to work some while going to school” Sid asks

“Yeah that's the plan if it all works out” Cassie says

“Yeah” Sid says

"So I am not really suppose to tell you this but Taylor has a crush” Cassie says

“What” Sid says

"Yeah part what we were talking about when we were away from your party” Cassie says

"God do I even want to ask just don't say Max” Sid says thinking it was one of his penguin teammates

“Oh no it's not even any Penguins” Cassie says

"Thank god that's somewhat a relief but still who” Sid says

“I didn't get to met him but guess he was at your party she said his name was Nathan” Cassie says

"McKinnon” Sid says

"Yeah that's the one “ Cassie says

“I guess it could be worse” Sid says in shock

“Don't say anything she would be mad I wasn't suppose to tell” Cassie says

"I won't I just still can't believe it” he says

“She was hiding think she nervous to be around him” Cassie says laughing

"That explains last week” Sid says “What” Cassie says

“I asked her if she wanted to go to the rink with me but after finding out he was going she said no thanks I didn't realize it but that must be why” Sid says

“Oh yeah sure it was” Cassie says

“Yeah she must have liked you a lot to tell you that” Sid says

“I liked hanging out with her it was fun” Cassie says

“I am glad” Sid says

As they drove Sid would point things out to Cassie and she loved seeing all of it Cassie had told him she had never been to Canada til this summer last year she was to go to Niagara Falls with her senior class but got sick a few days before they left and didn't end up going “Soon road trip has to be Toronto but this one we stopping at Niagara Falls” Sid says

“Really” Cassie says

"Yep spending the night there and can see everything you want to see” Sid says

“Wow thank you” Cassie says excited

“Well you said you missed your senior trip” Sid says

“I did and that sucked so thank you for doing this” Cassie says

“Really it's fine and wasn't planning on driving all the way in day why I said a couple days to get to Pittsburgh “ Sid says

“Yeah this is true better not to drive right thru” Cassie says

“Yeah this is like your summer vacation so figured we had to do something fun” he says

They got settled into the hotel that he booked it was a suite where they each had their own room. So figured we can go look at the falls and do the maid of the mist first” Sid says

"Ok that works” Cassie says They head out and walk for a while Cassie couldn't believe how beautiful it was she was taken it all in with a smile on her face

Sid was glad to see the smile on her face. He had missed her a lot over the summer and was glad they were getting a few days together before both their schedules got crazy again. “Want to do the boat ride” Sid asks

“Sure” Cassie says

They got up there and Sid got their tickets Cassie got money out to give him for her ticket “Put tha away I am not taking that from you” Sid says

"Come on please you shouldn't have had to pay for me” Cassie says

"Cassie keep your money for school please money is something I don't care about and truthfully I hate when people talk about how much money I make and all if I can do things like this for my friends and family then I can deal with what everyone one else says about it” Sid says as they wait to board

"Ok I just want you to know I can pay for my stuff and all” Cassie says she always took care of herself it's how she was raised

“I know but right now this trip don't worry about it I am taking care of it I invited you” he says as they boarded the boat

As they got closer to the falls Cassie says “wow can't believe we get this close to the falls”

“Pretty amazing right” Sid says

“Yeah this is really amazing” Cassie says

“Wait til you see it tonight all light up and all” Sid says

Oh yeah” Cassie says

“Yeah” Sid says

They looked around a little more even went into the shops where Cassie bought a few little things including a mini Canada flag Ready to have some dinner” Sid asks her

"Sure where would you like to go” Cassie asks

“Really truthfully to get some pizza while it's offseason I love pizza but don't eat it much” Sid says

“I love pizza too so that sounds really good so let's go find pizza” Cassie says

They found a little pizza place and ordered and enjoy it on the patio outside and little later as it got dark and they finished dinner they walked down to see the falls all little up and during summer month fireworks It was perfect way to end the summer.

They headed back to the hotel and went to bed as they were be starting back out on the road in the morning. Sid ordered an early breakfast for them and when Cassie woke up and got dressed and comes he had it ready “Wow breakfast you must have be up early you could have woken me up if you wanted to leave and get on the road” Cassie says

“Nope eat then we head out” Sid says “Ok” Cassie says As they get on the road Sid says to her

“I am not sure but thinking maybe we will drive all the way home today especially since we will be getting an early start”

“That's fine” Cassie says

"Yeah and figured if we get in today we have a day tomorrow before you go back to work to do something fun in Pittsburgh” Sid days

“Kennywood” Cassie says

“Isn't that the amusement park” Sid asks?

"Yeah and I haven't been there yet this summer between work and my two friends I have went with usually didn't come home this summer from school” Cassie says

“Then that's what we will do” Sid says as they finish eating

“You sure” Cassie says

“Yep it's the least I can do since you came up to Canada to see me I can do something you like in Pittsburgh” Sid says

They made it home by dinner time and Sid dropped Cassie off at her place and told her he pick her up in the morning to do Kennywood

The next day they spend the whole day at Kennywood riding the rides and taking in all the sights Cassie told him about all the traditions that were her family’s to do there

. They had had their photo taken by the people they take them when you walk in at the end of the day they looked at the photo and Sid got them each a keychain of it he wanted them to remember how they were friends and ended their summer. Cause soon he be in training camp and then season would start and Cassie would be back at school and working their hectic schedules making days like this few and far between but the smile on that photo would be the best way to remember it.

Notes

Had to put in Kennywood it's a Pittsburgh thing and want there to be those places and moments for them to. Just so you guys know I have the next four chapters ready so let me know what you think I might post another chapter here today
