AAOOOSC!: Gulls' Adventures!

"Ready Or Not"

Standing next to the entrance of the foyer is Dustin Tokarski in Icemare’s suit, minus the helmet. He has a placid, yet grave expression.

"I’ll be more than happy to," he adds in with a sick smirk.

Joseph Cramarossa straightens in his chair with a furious glare. "Tokarski!" He immediately shoots up to his feet and unleashes a blast of water straight at the goalie.

Dustin calmly holds his hand out at the water; the streak of water instantly hardens into a chuck of ice. Then with a flick of his hand, the ice torpedoes back to its owner

Joseph quickly ducks back into his seat as the ice zips past him. It crashes into the back wall of the kitchen, shattering into shards chunks of ice.

It is Brandon Montour’s turn to stand up with a shocked expression. "What are you doing here?" he asks Dustin with irritation.

The uninvited guest begins stepping up toward the three roommates placidly. "What else? I am here to accomplish my plan." He halts in front of the defenceman. "I still need you in Buffalo."

Nick faces Dustin with a serious expression. "Monty's not going anywhere. Not even to Buffalo."

Dustin turns to the tallest man in the house with narrowed eyes. "Oh, so you're against me now?"

"Yeah."

He scoffs. "Whatta traitor. I'll make you pay for his." He faces the other two, stepping back to have them all in his view. "In fact, I'll make you all pay for making this ten times harder than it was already!"

Joseph quickly slips in between Brandon and Nick. "We'll make you pay for what you did to not only to us, but also to Maxi, Bryan, and Joe!"

Dustin chuckles mirthlessly while rubbing his gloved-hands. "I’ll love to see that." He immediately pulls his hands toward his chest and extends them out at the three, spraying ice-infused mist.

Brandon automatically slices the air with a ribbon of fire in front of them, melting the smoke of ice with its heat before it came in contact with them.

As an attack, Joseph releases waves of water at Dustin, rushing through Brandon’s fire and naturally extinguishing it.

Dustin effortlessly holds his hands out, building ice from the inside out of the water, stopping it in place. He guides the ice to form in front of him to become a barrier, also having it crawl to freeze the whole blast of water and potentially its owner.

Meanwhile, Nick has gone behind Dustin and is beginning to contract a wall of solidified fire around the goalie. He builds the red and orange glowing wall higher as it increases its release of the rippling heat waves.

Dustin’s hands grow tense as the high temperature mounts on him, challenging him to create a cold element against it. The mist from his hands slowly dwindles in thickness and strength, morphing into puffs of lukewarm fog against the crackling fire.

The goalie slowly lowers his shaking hands to himself with his eyes on the snapping water he froze. He then takes one look at the circular wall of solidified fire around him. Suddenly, he dips his head down, clutching his arms against his chest, then throws his arms out, emitting a sweep of frigid air, quickly blowing the wall out into steam.

Joseph and the two fire users immediately duck, protecting themselves from the wave of freezing elements. Then right away, Joseph lets loose a jet of water straight at Dustin.

The water slams squared against the goalie, thrusting him through the air and crashing onto the floor, skidding on his back for a second.

Before the three can make another move on him, Dustin plants the palm of his hand against the floor. Immediately, sharp spikes of ice jut out from the floor in front of the roommates. The three stumble back, avoiding to be impaled.

Dustin then swings himself to his knees and presses both of his hands down. Ice immediately crawls from his hands, expanding in all directions throughout the house, pulling it into its icy clutches.

The room temperature of the house dramatically drops as the whole surface is swept with the smooth, frosty, wet touch of ice; the atmosphere is arctic and sharp, creating goosebumps and puffs of air with each exhale.

Brandon whips a flame of fire over his hand to bring some warmth into the frigid scenery. Yet the fire flickers with a small size, having a difficult time keeping alive.

Next to him, Nick attempts to pull a solidified wall from the slippery ground. His hands shake at the struggling effort with his eyes on the ground. All that is on the ground is the white, smooth ice.

Joseph on the other hand has his arms crossed, becoming stiffened, just like water in this atmosphere.

Meanwhile, outside the Monarossabergie House, the skies are blue and the sun is radiantly shining high. In front of the house, a small car parks itself by the sidewalk.

Inside the car, Matt Hackett turns off the car and pulls the keys from the ignition.

In the passenger’s seat, Ryan Faragher is taking off his seatbelt. "I hope they don't mind us dropping by for breakfast!"

Matt turns to him, unbuckling his seatbelt. "I think they won't mind. I'm more concerned about Crammer-- I hope he's doing okay." He then opens the door and steps off from the car.

Ryan does the same and waits for his goalie buddy to catch up to him. Then the two stroll through the front yard and up the porch.

"Whoa!" Ryan stumbles back, whipping his arm out in front of his friend to block him from advancing.

Matt whirls to him. "What?"

Ryan peers down; Matt does the same.

Laid out on the porch is a sheet of ice, which is stretching out from underneath the front door.

"What on earth…?" Ryan breathes out with wide eyes; Matt appears horrified.

Ryan steps to the left, around the ice to the front door, and pushes it open. He quietly slips inside with his goalie buddy silently following him.

Ryan tiptoes to the bend of the foyer that connects to the living room and leans to the left to catch a glimpse of the source of the strange ice.

He spots Dustin producing ice on the ground, being the source. In front of him is Brandon and Nick, who are appearing to have a difficult time creating fire, and Joseph, who is completely still.

Ryan quickly shuffles backward, causing his goalie buddy to back up through the front door and out onto the porch. Ryan joins him outside.

"Dustin's in there!" he exclaims, pointing toward the house.

Matt throws his hands on his cheeks. "Oh no, they need help!"

A smirk then grows on Ryan’s face. "Wanna have a battle for breakfast instead?"

Delight forms in Matt’s eyes. "You betcha!"

The house is not getting anymore warmer as the ice turns it into a dangerous winter wonderland. Icicles begin forming from the ceiling and edges of furniture; specks of ice hang in the air as it bears the coldness; the ice begins to gain a hue of cool blue; frost builds up on the eyelashes, hair, and eyebrows of the teammates.

Suddenly, Ryan bursts into the house, flying into the living room, toward the war zone. He has two two lightning-like, golden energy zapping from his each side of his head down to his hands and spiralling around them as the same energy drifts from the outer edges of his eyes.

Ryan emits one spark of electrical energy in the air at Dustin’s head, striking it.

Immediately, the ice retracts into nothingness, rising the room back to the standard room temperature.

Brandon instantly billows fire back in his hands. He then throws waves of flames at Dustin.

Dustin snaps his hands in front of him, hastily creating a wall of ice to block off the defenceman’s attack.

Nick is by Brandon’s side, forming another solidified wall of fire around the goalie to keep him in one place.

Joseph is gradually regaining his liquidity after the frozen spell: He slowly rolls his head and rotates his hands, warming them up again.

From above behind Dustin, Ryan unleashes a ribbon of electrical energy from his palm filled with spiralling energy. The ribbon latches itself onto the back of Dustin’s head.

Instantly, Dustin drops his hands to his side as his face turns blank. His glaciokinetic construct crumbles onto the ground.

Brandon holds his fire, his eyes wide with bewilderment at the strange action of his target. "Whoa, what just happened?" he cries out.

"I got control of his powers!" Matt is heard exclaiming from Ryan’s point of view.

Ryan smirks with his eyes upward. "Awesome!" He turns to the three skaters. "Don’t worry, guys, we got this."

From inside Ryan’s dim, red-tinted control centre, Matt is typing on the massive control panel laid out before him. He is staring up at the three-sixty degree screen in front of him, which is displaying the view around Ryan.

"Okay," Matt starts off, "I’m going to try to subdue his powers…!" He darts his eyes around the array of buttons and levers on the panel. He then lightly presses a few buttons in different places and pulls a lever upward.

All of a sudden, an whirling alarm goes off as bright, red lights flashes everywhere.

Matt’s eyes widen with fear. "Whoa!" He stares at the screen, which has the words Overburst blinking in a dangerous red colour.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" Matt’s hands fly all over the panel in an attempt to fix the situation. "The powers are too much, I can't get a hold of them! I’m gonna have to let go!" He then slams his hand against a big red button.

From outside, Ryan yanks the electrical ribbon from Dustin’s head.

Instantly, Dustin throws his arms out from his sides, unleashing powerful, thick sheets of ice waves from all around him.

Nick swiftly forms a dome of solidified fire over his roommates and the other goalie just as the ice flies at them.

BOOOSSSHHH!!!

The harsh sound of the roaring ice fades off into a still silence as the whole scene blasts into white due to the intensity of the emitted ice.

The ice finally dwindles, revealing the aftermath of the explosion: The relaxing blue skies are visibility seen with the sunlight radiating on the blown house.

Debris and rubble settle around the raging fire dome held by Nick. All that is left of the Monarossabergie House is its bits and pieces spewed across the neighbourhood, its foundation, parts of its lower portion jutting out.

The four teammates flick their eyes at the scene beyond the rippling, red-orange tinted barrier with shock.

Nick then retracts the dome, letting them go. He then peers out at the remains of the house with a sadden expression. "Awww…"

Brandon gazes around the ruins of his first house in San Diego in utter shock. He recognizes where his bedroom once was with his ladder thrown on the ground as rubble.

Next to him, Joseph has a miserable frown with lowered eyebrows and crossed arms.

Ryan, who is now disengaged from Matt, is gaping at the open air in surprise. His goalie buddy has his face in his shoulder, sobbing.

Brandon flicks his eyes ahead, spotting Dustin lying on the remains. "Dustin." He steps up to him and looms over him, noticing his closed eyes, relaxed face, and steadily-moving chest. "He's still alive."

He then hears Nick uttering from behind him, "Uh…"

Brandon peers behind him, seeing Nick gaping ahead. He then faces ahead of him to see who his friend is looking at.

In the scuffed front yard is Kalle; behind him is his limousine. Kalle has his jaw dropped with eyes as wide as pucks.

Brandon purses his lips. "Oh…" He warily marches to him, giving him an uncertain wave. "Uh, hi…, Kalle…"

"Herranen aika," Kalle mutters in his native language. "What happened?" He reverts his gaze at his teammate.

"Uh, it was, uh, just a fight." Brandon shrugs.

"Just a fight?" He turns back to the empty lot, throwing his hands at it. "The whole house explode!"

"Well, uh, a supernatural fight," Brandon explains further.

He eyes him. "Supernatural?"

"Yeah, with, um, powers." Brandon eyes him with hesitancy.

He seems extremely hesitant. "Oh...I see…" He holds his hand out toward the empty space.
"But why did you explode the house with the powers?"

"Uh, we didn't want to, it was Dustin's fault." Brandon lets out an anxious chuckle.

"Dustin Tokarski?"

Brandon nods his head. "Yeah."

Kalle whirls his head to gaze at the house; he notices Dustin lying on the pile of debris with his other four teammates gathering around him. He then rushes up to the crowd.

Brandon turns to face the Finn. "Wait—!"

Kalle halts in between Ryan and Nick and peering over Dustin’s unconscious body with worried eyes. He shoots his hand over his mouth. "Oh my, he's very much hurt. Scott’ll take care of him."

Kalle then bolts away from them, coming to the front yard, where Scott is strolling through.

Joseph whirls to face the Finn. "No—!"

Yet it is too late: Kalle halts in front of the butler. "Scott!"

"Yes, Mr. Kossila?" Scott asks patiently.

"Bring Dustin to the limo. He needs medical help."

Scott nods firmly once. "Right away, sir." He ambles back to the limousine, pulls out a gurney from its trunk, and hauls it through the rubble of the house, situating it next to Dustin. He lifts the man onto the padded slate and wheels him back into the limousine.

Joseph has bitter eyes on the tended goalie while growling.

Kalle stands in front of the rest of his teammate. "I am sorry that your house is explode," he tells them with sorrow. "Do you want to stay at my house?"

"You mean the Conway Mansion?" Nick’s eyes widen with delight.

"Kyllä!" A toothy grin appears on his face. "Where else?"

"Oh goodie." Nick claps happily like a young child being told he is going to an amusement park.

Brandon turns to Kalle with surprise. "Really, you'll all let us stay over at the mansion?"

Kalle gives him a smile and the same response: "Kyllä!"

"Thanks," Ryan starts, holding his palm out, "but we have our own house to stay in."

"Thank you, really, though," Matt pipes in with an innocent smile.

Kalle turns to the two. "Oh, you’re welcome! But there's plenty of room for friends!" He then spins on his heels and throws his hand toward the limousine with his eyes on the three skaters.
"Mennään!" He then amble through the rubble, toward the vehicle.

Exchanging reassuring expression with each other, Brandon, Nick, and Joseph follow Kalle to the limousine.

Now it is the two goalies left behind in the rubble.

Ryan turns to Matt with a weak smile. "Well, at least we know Crammer’s fine."
