AAOOOSC!: Gulls' Adventures!

"Earth, Wind, & Fire...and Lots of Water"

February 27, 2016
Exactly a week later...

It is the early afternoon in Poway as the sun shines down on the industrial-themed building. Deeper in the building, in the exclusive locker room, the San Diego Gulls dress out after a long practice. The hockey players are relatively quiet due to exhaustion, but there is one man in particular who is bouncing with energy.

“Guess what’s tonight…!” Bryan Moore exclaims as he is sitting in his stall, wearing his compression shirt and hockey pants. He is kicking his legs, inches above the floor, in excitement.

From across the room in his stall, Joseph Cramarossa glares at the small skater with his skate in his hands. “Nothing I care about.”

“Well, it’s something I care about, so I’m gonna say it!” he tells his teammate with a smirk. He then places his hands on his chest. “My constellation is gonna be shown tonight and it’s gonna be epic!!!” He then squeals with excited eyes and shaking fists.

From his stall, on Joseph’s right, Brandon Montour gawks at him. “Uh, what?”

Next to Bryan, his best friend, Stu Bickel, turns to Brandon with embarrassment. “What Bryan is saying here is that his zodiac sign, which is Gemini, is going to be shown as a constellation tonight--”

“AND IT’S GONNA BE EPIC!!!” Bryan yells, pumping his fists into the air.

“Oh…” Brandon nods his head. “Yeah, I don’t really know that stuff… I do know Native American signs, but not those…” He scratches the back of his head with a chuckle.

On Brandon’s right, Nick Ritchie perks up from untying his skates at Bryan. “When are you gonna see it?”

Bryan gazes at him. “Tonight, nine o’clock sharp: I’m gonna go to my room and get a telescope and...and…” His voice fades off as a wave of saddening realization crosses his face. He whirls to his taller friend. “We have a telescope, do we?”

Stu slowly shakes his head. “Not that I know of…”

He gasps with his hands plastered against his stubble-lined cheeks. Then he shouts, “NOOO!!!” He shakes Stu’s arm. “How am I gonna see my constellation if I don’t even have a telescope?!”

“We actually have a telescope,” Brandon pipes in, raising his index finger in the air.

Bryan whirls to him with hopeful eyes. “You do?!”

“Yeah!” He nods his head. “I remember seeing it in our closet.”

Bryan gasps with excitement. “Oh my goodness! I can use your guys’ telescope to see my constellation!”

“It’s a bit big, though,” Brandon points out with a shrug. He then spots Joseph scowling directed toward him.

“I got it, I got it!” Bryan hops onto his skates, throwing an index finger in the air. “Constellation party at Brand-o’s place, eight-thirty p.m., you guys are all invited!”

All the other Gulls cheer and clap in agreement.

Meanwhile, Stu gawks at his friend. “Bryan, did you even--?”

Bryan directs his finger to the three roommates. “And I’ll be at your place at three to check out that telescope!” He then pumps his fists in the air as he steps back toward his stall. “WOOO!!! I am PUMPED!”

Brandon gazes at the small skater with a worried expression. Next to him, Joseph is glowering at him.

“What did I do?” Brandon squeaks.

“You told him,” his roommate growls at him. “Now you deal with him.”

An hour later, the Monarossabergie House has some visitors: Bryan and Stu. Joseph locked himself up in his room for numerous reasons; Nick is in the kitchen with his pre-nap lunch; Brandon is with Stu and Bryan, leading them down the hallway.

“And the telescope is in here…” Brandon halts at the end of the hallway, where the closet is situated. He pulls the thin door open, revealing the other side.

The closet consists of three shelves loaded with clutter.

The two friends gawk at the sight.

“My trash can looks more organized than that,” Bryan remarks, pointing at the closet.

Brandon shoots him a flat expression before bending over to reach underneath the first shelf. He grabs hold of an awfully large, folded object and pulls it out into view as he straightens himself up. The object is a folded, professional-styled telescope that is cradled in his two arms.

Bryan’s arched eyebrows shoot up at the sight. He whistles.

Stu gives his friend an unsure expression.

Brandon then nods toward the other side of the house. “Let’s set it up by the patio.”

A few minutes later, the telescope is unfolded and is standing up on its stands in its full height. Its massive lens is facing the sliding glass window that is showing the patio, the neighbourhood, and the mid-afternoon sky.

Bryan smirks at it with his hands on his hips. “Now that’s a mighty fine telescope!”

Brandon nods his head. “That’s good. Does it work, though?”

Bryan steps up to it and pulls its optical tube down dramatically to reach his height. He peers into its small aperture with his eye in view squinted close. He then adjusts the focuser a bit before stepping back with a satisfied expression.

He peers up at him. “Yes, it does! Ready to rock n’ roll for this par-tae!!!” He pumps his fist in the air. “Gotta see who’s coming to order the pizza!” He then pulls out his phone and skips into the living room.

Stu scratches his head at the telescope. “I did not know you guys had a telescope.” He turns to Brandon.

“Haha, yeah…” Brandon shrugs with his eyes on it. “It was actually left from the previous tenant. We’ve never used it before nor decided to get rid of it.” He looks at him. “At least it’s getting put to good use.”

“Yeah.” He sighs sadly. “But I’m sorry for Bryan pushing his agenda on you guys-- You must’ve had plans and--”

Brandon waves his hand across him. “We actually got nothing better to do. I don’t mind-- It’s Joey who does. But thanks for the apology.”

Stu gives him a grin of relief. “That’s good. So see you guys later? We’re gonna bring the food and all that stuff.”

“Yeah!” Brandon nods his head. “See you then!”

“Alright!” Stu then whirls around and strolls over to his friend, who is chattering into his phone excitedly.

“Okay, so you want pizza and chips? What type of chips? Ew, those are disgusting flavors, I’m gonna get--”

“Come on, Bryan…!” Stu wraps his arm around him and begins leading him forward toward the foyer. “Let’s go shopping, we’ll be back later.”

Bryan covers the bottom portion of his phone with his hand and peers up at his friend. “Alright!” He peers behind his shoulder to face Brandon. “See ya later, Monty Muffins!” He then bounces out of the house with his friend following right behind him.

Now it is only Brandon all alone in the dining room.

He sighs. “Let’s hope this goes well,” he mutters to himself.
