It all started in Dallas

You and Sid were hittin it off really well since your first date. It had a been a week since but didn’t have a chance to see each other due to your schedules for the followin week. However you guys were always in touch over text and surprisingly over phone calls as well. Phone calls surprised you because you weren’t one to ever talk to anyone you dated, it was different with Sid though.
You and Jake were going to get a reward for what you guys had done in the kidnappin case, the department was throwin a small ceremony for y’all and you wanted Sid to come but didn’t know how to ask him.
“Are you okay (Y/N)?” he asked you over the phone
“Yeah why?”
“Well you seem kind of quiet, anything you’d like to share?”
“No well yeahhh”
“You can tell me anything (Y/N)”
“I know, its not that, look my department’s goin to give us, Jake and I, a small recognition for what we did, I was wonderin if you’d like to come?”
“Is it important to you?”
“Yeah it really is”
“Then of course I’ll be there” he said, “congrats, I’m very proud of you especially that you’re doing okay”.
“Thanks Sidney”
“I want to be there for you just like you are for me (Y/N)”
It had been the day of the ceremony when your unit was bein rewarded. You hadn’t heard from Sid that day but you assumed he was runnin late. When it was fifteen minutes into the ceremony you still hadn’t heard nothing. You were worried at first but you then you thought how it was foolish of you to think he would even come just like every other guy he doesn’t care
Jake must’ve read your mind because he gave you a small hug but didn’t want to say anythin because he knew you were a little hurt.That’s what you liked about Jake, he knew when you were hurtin but also recognized when not to talk about until you were ready to.
You weren’t goin to let it get to you as you were happy for the recognition and appreciation that your department was givin y’all. When the ceremony was over you checked your phone and saw that Sid had texted you
Sid: Sorry I couldn’t make it
Had a team thing
You didn’t even bother replyin, frankly you were pissed that he couldn’t tell you before instead of just not showin up.
The guys and you decided to head out to a local bar just outside of downtown Pittsburgh.
You were mad about Sid blowin you off so you and the guys were havin a good few drinks here and there.
You were entirely focused on the Thursday Night Football game that was on, you were even debatin passionately with the random guy next to you about how Tom Brady was one of the best quarterbacks, when you felt someone tap your shoulder, you thought it was one of the guys but surprisingly it was Sid. You turned to look and saw that the rest of the team was there.
“So I turn my back and you’re already flirtin with someone?” Sid asked you skeptically.
“Well hello to you Sidney” you answered sarcastically
“Is this a problem that we’re going to have?” he asked quietly but serious
You turned and gave your boys a look that they knew it wasn’t goin to end well on Sid’s part. Then you turned back to Sid and smirked.
“First of all, talkin to someone about how Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks is not flirtin, its havin a nice sports chat, you should know Sidney. Second, don’t come in here actin like that when you couldn’t even let me know about missin my ceremony which is pretty damn important to me, third if you’re goin to be jealous about every man I have an innocent conversation with then we’re goin to have a bigger problem, and finally, you and I are nothin, all we did is go on date, last time I checked you haven’t asked me to be anythin” you replied.
Sid looked at you in disbelief, he wasn’t used to girls talkin to him this way, especially someone not givin a damn that he was Sidney Crosby, most girls were runnin to let everyone know that they were together.
“Well maybe if you didn’t tell me last--” “OK OKAY guys let’s calm down a bit” butted in Phil, “look I think (Y/N) has a reason for tellin you last minute just like you told her about the Halloween party last minute, plus you should at least let her know you can’t make it Sid”
Sid turned and saw that his team pretty much agreed with Phil
“Well who’s side are you guys on?” he asked
“The fair one, it’s always like that Sid you know it” Patric added
“Fine, I apologize for missing your ceremony, I really did have a team meeting to attend to, and I made a mistake in not letting you know beforehand instead of after.” Sid apologized but mostly for the sake of his teammates.
You were still annoyed but let is slide for the moment
“Look I’m enjoyin this game and drinks, if you want to stay that’s fine if not well then see ya later Sidney” you told him firmly
Sid sighed and asked the random guy if he could scoot which he had no problem too as he realized it was Sidney Crosby, bless you random dude.
“Sooo, Patriots fan eh?”
“Nah just a big fan of some of the players”
“Good, I’d thought we’d have an even BIGGER problem you likin Boston”
“It’s NEW ENGLAND”
“Shhh same shit”
“Hahaha I know”
Sid silently watched the game and you as you cursed out quietly a few “fucks” and “shits” causin Sid to chuckle to himself.
You and Sid ended up makin a bet on the game, him of course goin against Boston. Loser had to cook the winner some delicious dinner.
You of course won
“Fuck it was close” Sid said
“Yeah fuckin right, it was a 14 point game, plus you should know by now to not bet against Tom fuckin Brady” you said proudly
“Whatever” he said sarcastically
