Savannah Decker walked into the bar, glancing around to see if her sister or best friend had shown up yet. She had texted their group chat when she had gotten off of work and had instructed both of them to get to Foundry's for a drink ASAP. She had just completed her first full day at her new job with the DEA in Dallas, and to say it didn't go great was an understatement. She'd been on the job less than three hours before she had been shot at by a criminal.

She took another sip of her drink of choice, a Jack and Diet Coke, and continued scrolling through her Instagram feed. "You waiting for me?" an amused voice said, and Savannah looked up from her phone to see a handsome man sitting across from her. It took her only a split second to recognize him as Tyler Seguin, one of the most popular hockey players on the Dallas Stars.

Savannah had to admit, she had never followed hockey that closely, though she used to be aware of how the Chicago Blackhawks were doing when she lived in Chicago. But then her best friend, Alex Dayton, began dating the captain of the Stars and she felt obligated to start following the team.

But, that wasn't how she knew the man sitting in front of her. She knew of Tyler Seguin because he had hit on her twin sister, Shea, many times. In fact, it had become a running joke in the group text between her, Shea, and Alex.

Alex had met Tyler when she was doing a photo shoot for Under Armour that featured him. Shea had tagged along that day, and Tyler had immediately been attracted to her. So much so that he asked her out, but she turned him down. So he asked her again. And yet another no from Shea. Tyler finally learned on the third try that Shea was actually a lesbian and was in a pretty serious relationship with a woman named Audrey Mitchells.

Now over a year later, he still jokingly asked Shea out, though he had actually become friends with both Shea and Audrey, especially since his best friend and captain Jamie Benn began dating Alex.

Throughout all that time, Savannah had never actually met Tyler in person. She had requested pictures of Tyler so she could picture the man that kept asking Shea out. And after seeing pictures of him and now him sitting in front of her, she had to admit that he was more attractive in person. No wonder he was such a playboy and women everywhere threw themselves at him. Savannah was not one of those women.

"Where's your significant other?" he asked, and it dawned on her that he thought she was Shea. She didn't say anything immediately and he continued. "You know, I'm always here if you want something different," he joked with a wink.

Savannah opened her mouth to say something when suddenly a voice said, "Tyler Seguin! Are you hitting on my sister!?"

Savannah laughed as Tyler turned around to see Shea standing behind him. His gaze switched between Shea and Savannah several times before it finally settled on Shea. "Sister!? You have a twin?"

"Savannah Decker," Savannah introduced herself, extending a hand out over the table towards Tyler. He accepted, his gaze landing on Savannah. She could tell he was studying her face, really looking to see how similar she looked to her sister. They were identical twins, but had a couple of very subtle differences. Most people could only tell them apart based on the length of their hair. Savannah had shorter hair than Shea and almost always wore it down.

"Please tell me you're straight or at least bi or I'm going to kill myself," Tyler said half jokingly.

Savannah looked at him, seeing a smirk on his face, only intensifying his sexiness.
"I'm straight," she admitted, and Tyler's expression went from flirty to downright seducing. "But, I'm not interested."

Tyler's face fell flat while Shea laughed, pulling out a seat and sitting between the two of them. "Sorry, buddy, guess you're not getting a Decker," she laughed as she put a hand on his shoulder.

Tyler shook it off as he looked at the sisters. "Let me get us some drinks and we can discuss this further. Blue Moon?" he asked Shea, who nodded her head. "What do you want?" he asked Savannah.

She finished her drink before setting the empty glass back down on the table and saying, "Jack and Diet Coke." Tyler raised an eyebrow at her answer. "What?" she questioned.

"Good drink choice," he said simply as he turned around to head towards the bar.

Shea slid over closer towards Savannah so they could have a conversation without yelling over the music. "He's into you," she told Savannah, her eyes watching Tyler as he pushed his way to the front of the crowd at the bar.

Savannah rolled her eyes. "He's into anyone that looks like you, and unfortunately Mom and Dad gave us genes that make us identical."

Shea nodded her head in Tyler's direction. "What do you think of him?" she asked. Savannah knew Shea thought she needed someone in her life, as she hadn't really dated much in the past few years. She'd had a couple of boyfriends, both of whom had broken up with her when they felt threatened by her job as a DEA officer.

"Who? Tyler Seguin? He's good looking, but he's not my type," Savannah answered her. "Where's Alex?" she changed topics, not wanting to talk about potential suitors anymore.

Shea frowned. "Probably with Jamie. She went to the game tonight," she said.

"Well when I say I need to see you guys immediately, maybe she should postpone sex for a minute," Savannah replied. She knew she was being hard on Alex, but she'd had a bad day at work and needed to vent to her best friends. When she was in Chicago, she'd had to settle for texting them after a stressful day at work, but now that she was in Dallas, she was going to use the closeness to her advantage and talk to them in person.

"Cut her some slack," Shea responded. "You'd want to bang your boyfriend too if he was a hot hockey player. What's going on anyways?" she asked, seeing Tyler coming back their way.

"Well, I got set up to take down these couple guys that are in the middle of a drug ring. Little did we know they'd known I was a set up and started fucking start shooting at me in the middle of an intersection. Thankfully, there were no other people around," she spoke. "I don't even know how they knew who I was."

"You got shot at?" Tyler's voice rang out as he set the drinks on the table. "What the hell were you doing?"

"My job," Savannah stated.

Tyler's face scrunched up in confusion. "Your job is to get shot at?"

"I'm a DEA officer," she told him, picking up her drink in her hand. "It's my job to take down drug dealers. Getting shot at is just a perk," she said sarcastically, taking a big gulp of her drink, the alcohol going down smooth.

"Shit," he muttered. "And I thought getting pucks shot at my face was bad." Savannah couldn't help when a small smile spread across her lips at his comment. He wasn't questioning how a woman was in her position or trying to say his job was tougher. It was a nice change from a lot of men she talked to.

"Can we get back to you getting shot at??" Shea questioned. "Are you okay?"

Savannah laughed at her sister's concern. "I'm sitting here drinking. Yes, I'm fine," she assured her. "But I did have a shitty first day of work. We didn't even get them."

"Damn, your first day and you got shot?" Tyler questioned. "I should go buy you a couple more drinks."

Savannah shook her head. "No, two is my limit," she told him. She knew the third one would make her head fuzzy and painful in the morning, and that wasn’t good for work. "But, thank you," she added sincerely.

"Weak," he joked, winking at her. Savannah refused to admit that just that small gesture turned her on.

"Okay, back to you getting shot at!" Shea repeated. "Van, I've told you before, I worry about you," she said sincerely.

"And Shea, I've told you before that I'm fine. I can take care of myself and I did today. I didn't actually get shot," she assured her. Tyler was looking back and forth at both of them as they exchanged words.

"Shit, I'm sorry I'm late," Alex's voice rang out as she set her purse down on the table and took a seat across from Savannah.

Savannah lifted an eyebrow. "Too busy with the boyfriend?" she joked. Alex's face got a slight shade of red, and Savannah knew she was right. "Where is he anyways?" she asked, looking around. She'd met him only once since Alex started dating him, and that was when the Stars were in Chicago playing the Blackhawks, and Alex had introduced them briefly after a game before the Stars were back on a plane to Dallas.

"He dropped me off and went back home to change," Alex told her before looking over at Tyler. "How'd you get here so quick?" she questioned.

"Because I didn't have sex immediately after the game?" he responded, garnering a laugh from Savannah, who was impressed he called Alex out that way.

Alex's face went bright red, and Shea and Savannah both teased her. "Tell me what happened?" Alex attempted to take the heat off of herself and change subjects. Savannah's message in the group text let the other girls know it hadn't been a good day.

"She got shot at," Tyler answered for her.

Alex looked over at Tyler before her eyes settled on Savannah. "What the hell? On your first day?"

Savannah nodded her head, finishing off her drink. At least Alex wasn't being overprotective like her sister was being. Alex understood Savannah's job and that it wasn't the safest job, and that Savannah had gotten shot at more than once in the line of duty. Thankfully, she'd never actually gotten hit except for one time when she had been wearing a bulletproof vest. "Yeah, I’m fine though. The drinks are helping," she added, holding up her empty glass.

"You sure you don't want another one?" Tyler offered. Savannah seemed to think about it for a moment before declining. Tyler shrugged as he finished off his beer and got up to get another one.

The three girls kept talking while Tyler was away. It was amazing that even though Savannah had been away from them for several years for her job, it was like the three of them had never been separated. Their group text kept their friendship close, the three of them constantly talking to each other.

Shea's phone went off, and she glanced at it. "Audrey just got home. She had some emergency surgery on a dog," she explained. Audrey was a veterinarian, an occupation she loved, and she never turned away any animal, even for a late night surgery. "I think I'm going to head out," she told them. "You're okay, right?" she asked Savannah.

Savannah nodded with a smile on her lips. "I'm fine, I promise. Get home to Audrey," she told her twin.

Shea stood up, grabbing her purse before saying goodbye to the other two. Tyler made his way back to the table. "Where's she off to?" he asked, nodding his head in Shea's direction.
"Home to her girlfriend," Alex answered, and Tyler accepted the answer by taking a sip of his beer and sitting back down next to Shea.

About fifteen minutes later, Jamie joined them, saying hello to Savannah. Tyler looked up at him. "How did you know it was her and not Shea?" he questioned. Tyler couldn't tell the two of them apart, obviously, as he had thought Savannah was Shea when he first walked in.

Jamie shrugged as he set down next to Alex. "I know Shea well enough to know when it's not her?"

"You want a drink?" Savannah offered. "Tyler's buying," she grinned at the man sitting next to her, who merely shook his head and chuckled. He had enough money, he could buy drinks for everyone in the bar if he wanted to.

Jamie shook his head, declining the offer. "I'm not gonna drink tonight. Not feeling the greatest after that game," he said. He had taken more than his share of hits that night, so none of them could blame him for not wanting to drink.

"Alex, why don't you take him home?" Savannah suggested.

Alex looked over at her. "Are you trying to get rid of me?"

Savannah chuckled. "No, I just think that boyfriend of yours looks exhausted. Don't know if that's from the game or post game activities…" she trailed off, giving Alex a challenging look, while Alex choked on her drink. "Go, I'll text you later," she promised her.

Alex accepted and stood up, looking at Tyler. "Take good care of her," she told him.

"I can take care of myself," Savannah responded before Tyler could say anything. "Have a good night, you two," she told Jamie and Alex, who bid her goodnight and walked out, leaving just her and Tyler sitting there alone. She could feel his eyes on her. "What?" she finally asked, looking over at him, her eyes locking with hers. "I'm not Shea, you can stop undressing me with your eyes."

Tyler sat back in his chair, not used to women calling him out like that. He had to admit, he kinda liked her attitude. "I'm not," he told her.

Savannah crossed her arms over her chest. "Then why are you staring at me?" she asked.

"Just wondering how you can be so calm after getting a bullet shot at you," he answered.

Savannah was surprised by his honesty and leaned back in her seat, shrugging her shoulders. "I guess you get used to it after the tenth time or so," she replied casually. She could see the look on Tyler's face change, but she couldn’t quite figure out what he was thinking. Then finally it clicked with her. "I can handle myself, stop playing alpha male and trying to figure out how to save me."

Tyler put his hands up in defense. "I promise, no attempt at saving from me. Seems like you're good on your own," he said, finishing his second beer of the night and standing up to go to the bar for another.

Savannah watched him as he walked away. She'd done it again, scared away another guy by showing her assertive and independent side. And he responded just like every other one, walked away and found an easier target. She rolled her eyes as she watched a younger blonde flirt with Tyler. Savannah stood up, pushing in her chair and leaving the bar, not even saying goodbye to Tyler.

She pulled out her phone and texted the group text. Headed home. Alone. No one good at the bar.

She was used to going home alone. She actually liked being on her own a lot. But, sometimes she wished she were Alex or Shea with their significant others. She shook her head, clearing her thoughts. She wasn't going to go down this self pity road. That wasn't her. She had chosen her life path, and work came first. Unfortunately, it seemed her career and men didn't seem to mix very well.
