Great, One More Egotistical Jerk I Have To Dodge!

Damn Things Are Gonna Haunt My Dreams For Years!

*Savvy’s POV*

I woke up the next morning to a massive hangover. Emmy and I both had fake ID’s and we used them on a regular basis when we went out with the team. I laid in bed and just stared up at the ceiling. I was afraid to look at my phone to see what time it was, but I knew it was early. I always slept like crap after I went out drinking, and woke up super freaking early… It was the curse from hell!

“You’re weird you know that?” Emmy asked from her bed across the room. I rolled my head to the side to see her laying with her arm draped over her eyes. She sounded half dead.

“Do I even want to know what time it is?” I asked, feeling no better than she sounded.

“It’s the ass-crack of dawn, that’s what time it is. Why can’t you sleep in like a normal person?” She asked with a whine.

“Because life’s a bitch.” I said sighing. I slowly rolled out of bed and took two Excedrin with some water I had on my nightstand, before stumbling over to Emmy’s bed to give her some pills as well.

“Thanks.” She mumbled, taking the pills immediately.

“What time does Derek fly in?” I ask, climbing back into bed.

“Not until tonight. Thank God!” Those shots were a bad idea last night.” She said staring at the ceiling.

“Agreed! I think today is gonna be a Netflix and chill kinda day.” I said

“I second that motion, as soon as my head decides it loves me again.” Emmy said, taking her pillow and putting it over her head.

*Kane’s POV*

I walked into practice the next morning with my head still spinning. Why couldn’t this girl just be normal, fall for my cheesy pick-up lines, and spend a great night, and what I’m guessing would have been an even better morning with me, so I could get her out of my damn head? Instead she had to turn me down, insult me, and then call me out for being a douche. What should have been a complete and total turn off, was having quite the opposite effect. I couldn’t stop thinking about her! She was unlike any woman I had ever met. She was headstrong and sarcastic, but the way she stood up for her teammate… her winger, no less… it struck a chord in me.

“So did you score with that chick last night?” Seabs asked as I was taping my stick in the locker room.

“Ah… no man, I struck out.” I admitted as I started chuckling.

“No way! She didn’t fall for your famous pick-up lines and blow you in the parking lot?” Jon snickered sarcastically beside me.

“HAHA!” I said as I shook my head. “I didn’t use any of them on her.”

“Really?” Duncan said chiming in sounding surprised.

“Eh… they weren’t going to work on her anyway. She had her mind made up about me before she even met me.” I said focusing on my taping.

“What do you mean?” Seabs asked.

“I caught up with her in the parking lot when I was heading to my car last night. She flat out called me a douchebag to my face and insulted me the entire time I walked her to her car.” I said, unable to help my smirk and small chuckle.

“Wait, you walked her to her car?” Jon asked.

“Yea… when I found her last night she had just slipped on a patch of ice, I caught her before she hit the ground… to be honest, I think she would of rather of hit the ground. Anyway, I didn’t want her to slip again so I just kinda went with her.” I said. “Fucking heels… damn things are gonna haunt my dreams for years.” I mumbled the last part under my breath.

“Holy shit… you like her!” Jon said with a shocked expression.

“Seriously? Why would I like her, Jon? She’s loud, sarcastic, constantly insults me, and doesn’t give a shit about who I am. Why would I waste my time on her, when I can have any other girl?” I asked, completely serious.

“Exactly, you can have any other girl without even trying. She’s not just another puckbunny. This one you might actually have to work for and I think that intrigues you.” He said matter-of-factly.”
I just stared at him with my mouth wide open. Unbelievable, I think he was right. I wanted her because I couldn’t have her. She was a challenge.

“It doesn’t matter, she made it very clear last night that I didn’t have a chance in hell, so.” I said with a shrug.

“I think you might have a better chance than you think.” Duncs said putting his practice jersey on. I turned to look at him.

“What do you mean?” I asked curious.

“Carlie said Savvy was acting weird last night when they were at the club. She didn’t tell them what was up and she didn’t end up hooking up with anyone either for what it’s worth. She left with the group and went back to the dorms with them.” He said picking up his helmet and gloves. I just stared at him.

“You talked to Carlie last night?” Seabs asked laughing.

“And this morning… just because Kaner was a dumbass last night, doesn’t mean I was.” He said laughing. “I waited outside the locker room for her last night. I got her number and a date.” He smirked as he walked toward the ice. I sat there in shock. Interesting… she might hate me, but at least I was having some effect on her too.
