The Captain and the Rockstar

Chapter 2

Aly joined Chris over at his apartment and she was really excited to have someone cook for her since she was living off boxed macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, and the occasional to-go Chinese food during the pandemic. With things starting to ease up in Manhattan, it was nice to somewhat get back to normal and hopefully things would continue to trend up instead of down.

Upon entering Chris' apartment, Aly's jaw hit the floor, "This is your place!?"

"Yeah, pretty sweet what a $5 million dollar a year salary gets you. Where's your apartment?" Chris asked, hanging up his leather.

Aly was speechless until she finally registered Chris' question, "Oh, uh, Miranda Lambert is letting me use her place while I finish my record until it's time to go back to Nashville."

After Chris gave her a grand tour of the apartment, he sat her on one of his stools at his kitchen island and gave her a full-access view into him cooking, "So, I think you're gonna like this. It's seared Wagyu ribeye steaks with cheddar mashed potatoes and creamed corn. My mom taught me to cook growing up. Do you cook?"

"I do back home in Tennessee, but up here, it's been mostly takeout. I do a lot of BBQ because of the south, it's my favorite," Aly said.

It was hard to keep her eyes off Chris. The way he rubbed the spice blend into the meat, the way he mashed the potatoes, everything. He was so strong and it was obvious he was working out because the NHL was set to resume at the end of July, and the Rangers were one of the teams that made the straight to playoff format. He was perfect in every way and kept himself in shape.

Chris placed the steaks in the cast iron pan to sear, "So, while that cooks, tell me. How did you get into music?"

"Well, I have loved it my whole life and my mom raised me on so much from her childhood, plus she grew up with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, so I always had that gift. I started writing songs at 12, shifted between many different career choices, but when I wrote my current single, I knew it'd be something special," Aly explained.

Chris nodded as he flipped the meat, "Fascinating. What's the album going to be like?"

"We're doing twelve songs, all of which I wrote, and pending any setbacks from the pandemic, it'll be released next April. Are you excited hockey's back?" Aly asked.

"Absolutely. I missed my teammates and the ice so much. My broken foot healed really fast, so I was itching to get out there. I spent a lot of time in Boston quarantining with my family, and it was nice to get that time with them," Chris said.

Aly took a sense of smell in the kitchen, "Everything looks delicious."

Chris turned the stove off and plated their meals, "Well, dig in."

Aly took one bite and she could have easily orgasmed right there, "Chris, are you kidding me!? This is amazing,"

"I told you my mom taught me. She always made amazing meals for my sister and I growing up in Boston, even after long days of work. She's the best," Chris smiled. He loved to talk about his family.

Aly was having a really fun time with Chris and being with him felt different. It was nice to know him outside the rink and she could tell he was having a good evening too. She walked over to the sink to rinse her plate and felt his hand on her shoulder, "You okay?"

"You...you're so beautiful. I know this is really soon, but, uh, can I kiss you?" Chris asked.

The heat of his breath behind her made Aly go extremely weak in the knees. She turned around and faced him, placing her hand on his chest, "Absolutely."

As soon as their lips touched, it was like fireworks on the fourth of July. It was insane to have this feeling, but it was like a magnet pulling them together. After what felt like an eternity, Chris pulled back, "That was so beautiful."

Aly leaned close to him and whispered, "I never said stop."

The next two hours between them was like they were lovers reuniting after time apart. It felt so wrong yet so right. How would the press, and Aly's label, handle the news once the media reports them hanging out? Would this be bad for the captain of the New York Rangers?
