Wake Me Up

Chapter 12

She listened to the soft sound of skates sliding across the ice.
She drowned out the voices cheering. All she heard was the sound of skates hitting the ice. All she could do was focus on the puck, that she was stick handling across the ice at that very moment.

Her team was at their last tournament of the season. They were playing for the championship. Nothing was going to stop Jackie from showing everyone what she was made of. She was going to go to the Olympics and no one was stopping her. The score was tied at 2-2 in the third overtime. The other team was dropping like flys. All to tired to go on. But not her team.

no, they were well conditioned and fought through the pain. The pain of their legs, screaming to have a break. The pain of their bodies, aching from getting pushed, shoved, and checked. But to Jackie, she felt nothing. This was the championship. She was going to prove to everyone, that she was the greatest girl hockey player.

The thing about her team was that they had no actual coach. This was very unusual. They had the owner of the team. He used to play hockey himself and was amazing. His idea though, was I just have a captain of the team, no coach. He thought girls would learn better and listen more. So, he got together his team and made Jackie the captain. It was hard at times, Jackie having to stay up late to decide when they would switch out. Usually she just looked at her teammates and they knew who would be coming on and who would be coming off the ice. Most people thought that his methods were weird, but Jakie didn't care. Her team has never once lost a game.

And she wasn't planning on losing now. She skated up the boards and dumped the puck behind the net for Danica to pick up. Danica tried to dribble in the shot but to avail. She got her own rebound and passed it to Lori. Lori did a quick one timer and once again, the puck was stopped and caught, by the goalie. It was time for a faceoff. Before it happened Jackie called her teammates over.

"Okay, this is what we are going to do. I'm going to have a tie in the faceoff, leaving the puck for you to take Lori. Once you take it, act like your going to shoot but really make a behind the back pass to Angel who will then do a quick wrist shot to top right shelf." Danica snorted.

"This teams way to good to tie up a faceoff."

"They're tired Danica, they're playing sloppy. Their gonna let something slip like this eventually. So lets make it happen now. "

They broke apart, waiting for the referee to blow the whistle that would signal the faceoff. Jackie got into position and put on her famous bad ass face to her opponent. Their was only goin to be one winner by the end of tonight. That winner would be her.

Finally the ref skated forward and held the puck above Jackie's eager hockeystick.

He dropped the puck and instead of going for it, Jackie began to pretend like she didnt see it and made a big seen so her opponent wouldn't get a hold of it.

Lori picked up the puck and skated towards the net at full speed. She lifted her hockey stick and was about to shoot when....

She passed it behind her, with Angel eagerly waiting. No sooner did the puck leave Lori's stick did it leave Angel's. the goalie never saw it coming.

"she shoots, SHE SCORES!" Angel with the wrist shot gets past Sam! Jackie threw her hands in the air in celebration and watched as Hillary, on the other team, skated up to the net and banned her stick against the net, causing it to break in two.

Her teammates attacked Angel as they celebrated the win. She finally let herself hear the fans, and could eat them cheering her team on with gusto. This was the game that would definitely prove to everyone, that she was going to the Olympics.

"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS BITCHES!" Danica shouted, as the team piled into a trendy bar in Chicago. No one seemed to care, that they were all underage, all anyone cared was that they had won.

Jackie knew that no one cared about women's hockey. But the owner of the team, Mr. Sneider, made everyone care. He made flyers for the team, posted about them everywhere, and even had a photo shoot coming up for the girls in Sports Illustrated. Slowly, everyone started to her about the Raiders.
and now, they were all anyone could ever talk about.

People just wanted to be in their presence. Jackie snaked her away around the crowd and went to the bar. She sat down on a stool, next to a man who looked to be in his twenties. The man had his friends with him. He looked at Jackie once, then did a double take, a slow smile forming across his lips.

"You must be the winning captain," he drawled as his buddies grinned at her.
"Yes that would be me," she said politely. she watched in disgust as his eyes traveled up and down her body.
"Can I help you?" She asked, starting to get anxious. He shook his head slowly as his friends laughed.
"Can I buy you a drink?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck.

"No, no, I'm fine, I really should be getting back to my team," Jackie said, as she began to get up. She tried to get up, but felt a sweaty hand pull her back down. He pulled her into his grip and she felt his hot, breath, that wreaked of alcohol on her face.

"No," she moaned, trying to get away.

"Your coming with me," he snarled as his friends came to help him. Jackie twisted and turned and tried to find her teammates but they were to busy either making out or partying. She felt a hand cover her mouth before she could scream. Everyone else in the bar just thought that she was another girl with her boyfriend that was going to get laid.

"Put her down," a deep, slow voice growled. Jackie tuned her a head and saw her hero; Jonathan.

"Jonathan Toews?" the men said, astonished, looking at Jonathan and noticing his bulging arm muscles.they quickly put Jackie down and scurried away. Jackie felt Jonathan's gaze on her. She didn't want to cry in front him. Besides, Jackie did not cry. She felt strong arms wrap around and she felt someone stroke her hair.

"It's okay Jackie, your safe."

aww.. So happy her and her team whipped it out in the championship and that someone was there to stop the a holes at the bar
really great. Loved that she checked Pat. I honestly would love a story where they didn't necessarily play him off as an ass once he gets in a relationship. Everyone makes bad decisions where he is in his life his is just more publicized. Of course I have never met him or would actually know him more than face value so he always could be an A hole.. who knows...

Anyway great story keep it up
Please post soon :) I'm having withdrawal symptoms from not reading your stuff.
