Wake Me Up
Chapter 5
BEEP, BEEP!
Jackie groaned. She threw her right hand out, hoping it would hit her alarm clock. She pressed a few buttons until finally it turned off.
She sat up in her bed and looked around. Everything seemed to be normal. she wondered why she was so angry last night.
Before she went downstairs to eat, she quickly checked her phone. That's when it hit her.
Hannah had slept with Jonathan.
Jackie bit her bottom lip and ran her fingers through her greasy hair. She hadn't taken a shower in days. She figured the best thing for her to do right now was to just go and eat and wait for Hannah to get back.
She thudded down the stairs and into kitchen. The sun's rays were trying to get through the kitchen window.
"Fuck the sun," Jackie muttered as she began to make toast. She popped both pieces into the toaster and waited. She could feel her envy of Hannah growing. The more time went by, the more Hannah got to spend with Jonathan.
What was she thinking? Jackie NEVER fretted over things like this! Even when one time at some club, Hannah got to meet Channing Tatum and she didn't! Why couldn't Jackie just pretend like this was just another random guy that Hannah had hooked up with? Jackie had more important things to worry about, like her hockey career.
The toast popped out and Jackie began to butter it. When she was done she walked into the family room and turned on the TV. As she say down and began to eat, the news reporter for WGN news began talking.
"Last night our captain of the Blackhawks must have really felt the need to celebrate, when people spotted him at a trendy nightclub. He reportedly was with a girl who later on, witnesses said, went home with him!" Jackie's jaw practically touched the ground. This was seriously news worthy?
The cameras then went back to the reporters all around the desk.
"good for him, you know I heard he took his last breakup pretty hard." Jackie scowled. Who cares if he took it hard? Didn't give him the right to go out and sleep with a slut.
As she finished her toast she heard a lock click. Jackie turned around and saw Hannah at the door. She wasn't wearing her club dress anymore. She had on an oversized Blackhawks shirt and she had on baggy grey sweats. Her hair was array and her makeup was smudged. Nonetheless, she still looked better then Jackie ever could in the morning.
Hannah let out a squeal and then ran to Jackie. She flung her arms around her and did a sigh.
"Jackie this was the best night of my life!" She cried.
"Great," Jackie mocked, her voice oozing sarcasm. Of course, Hannah didn't pick up on it.
"I need to tell you everything! Starting from at the club!"
"Oh no Hannah's it's fine I really don't want. . ." But Hannah was off. Her mouth talking a mile a minute while Jackie sat, hopelessly on the couch. She pretended not to listen when Hannah told her that Jonathan had called her, "the most beautifulest girl he had ever seen." Finally when Hannah got to the sex part, Jackie had to put a stop to this.
"Hannah I dot wanna hear about your steamy sex m'kay? I would just like to watch TV in peace." Hannah's frowned.
"You always listen to my stories, start to finish!"
"This time I don't wanna, I have a lot more important things to worry about." Hannah lightly punched Jackie.
"Bull shit, my life is way more interesting then yours." Jackie cringed. Her words cut through Jackie like knives. Hannah didn't even realize how badly she had just hurt her friend.
They sat in silence for a few more minutes before Hannah spoke.
"I have another date with him tomorrow."
"Cool."
"No not cool, he's taking me to some fancy restaurant and we actually have to talk!" Jackie rolled her eyes.
"Didn't you talk with him?" Hannah fidgeted on the couch, making it groan from her movement.
"Err, we didn't really do a lot of talking more just. . ."
"I get it."
"So you see my point? He thinks I'm a total hockey girl and I don't know a single thing about it!"
"Tough luck." Secretly Jackie was glad.
Hannah began to grin.
"This is where I figured you come in."
Jackie looked at Hannah like she was crazy.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you come to the restaurant with me, but secretly. You sit close enough for you to hear, but not so he'll see you. You talk through those little microphone thingies while I listen to what you say. That way, I'll sound like a total hockey genius!" Hannah exclaimed.
"No, if you like him so much, maybe he will like the real you," Jackie said sourly. Hannah's mouth formed a perfect O.
"JACKIE! Please I'm begging you'! I want this relationship to work out so much!'' Jackie sighed as she got up to take her plate to the sink.
"I know you like him, I get that, but If he finds out your a fake. ."
"He won't." Jackie licked her lips. She stared at Hannah in Jonathan's clothes. She looks at the pleading look on her face.
"I'll think about it. Ill give you an answer after goalie tryouts"
"YES! THANK YOU!" Quick as a Cheetah, Hannah pounced on her friend.
"I don't know what I would do without you," Hannah mumbled. Jackie patted her friend's head.
"Probably die."
