When Adam pulled up to the restaurant, Liz took in the building then turned and looked over at him with a furrowed brow.
"What is this place?"
"You know, you might be one of the most inpatient people I've ever met."
She chuckled at him, "it might be one of my faults. But seriously, I've never heard of this place before."
He got out of the car, circling around to open her door for her.
"What did I tell you about spoiling the big reveal?"
She squinted her eyes at him as she grabbed his hand and hoisted herself out of the car. He closed her door with his free hand, weaving their fingers together with the one she was holding. She smiled up at him lightly as they headed in the direction of the building. When they got in, she took in the surroundings, not really seeing the appeal of this place and wondering why he was so secretive about it. The waitress started leading them to the back of the building, through another door and she leaned into Adam slightly to whisper.
"I thought we said no creepy places and being killed?"
He chuckled and squeezed her hand re-assuringly.
"Don't worry."
The waitress went through another set of doors and then stopped at a small table that had a few candles in the centre and a rose on one of the plates. Adam nodded at the waitress thanking her and she headed back to the front where she came from. He dropped Liz's hand, moving to the back of the chair in front of the rose covered plate and pulled it out for her. She chuckled lightly and could feel the blush creeping up on her cheeks from how sweet he was being already this evening. She looked down at her feet and moved to sit in the waiting chair. He moved around the table to sit across from her and took in her face as she finally looked up and out the window that they were seated in front of. From where they were sitting they had a view of the entire Boston Harbour all lit up for the night and it was an amazing view. She sat for a few minutes staring out the window thinking of the scenery, the evening and of course the man sitting across from her before she was broken out of her trance by the waitress coming back asking for their drink orders. After they placed their orders, she looked back up at Adam with a small smile playing on her lips.
"You did good hotshot." She said softly.
"Well if you were going to agree to go on another date with me I was going to make sure it was a pretty damn good one."
"Well for future reference, I would have been completely okay with burgers or pizza on the couch."
The waitress came back with their drinks and Liz picked hers up taking a sip, feeling a little warm from the nerves that were coursing through her; being around him always seemed to do that to her.
"So a goal and 2 assists in your week away. That's pretty good for a defenseman." She smirked and continued, "Why do I feel like I should take credit for some of that?"
He chuckled and smiled, "what can I say, good things happen when I have someone to play for."
"Surely you had to have had someone to play for in the past."
"Mostly myself, but it's always nice to have someone to show off for." He said reaching across the table to grab her hand that was resting on top.
"You're welcome." She couldn't keep the smirk off of her face as she said that.
They ordered their dinner and conversation flowed easily as they ate. It was never hard for them to find something to talk about and he loved to see her laugh so it was his goal to keep the conversation flowing. As they were finishing dinner she leaned back in her chair and looked up at him smiling slightly. He finished his last bite and looked up at her, noticing the look on her face.
"What?"
"I missed this while you were gone."
He decided to play the fool and raised an eyebrow at her, "eating?"
She laughed, not expecting that answer.
"No doorknob, this," she said motioning her hands between them.
"Is that your way of saying you missed me?"
"Exactly what I'm saying," she looked down at her hands again, but forced herself to look back up. When she did so he noticed the blush on her cheeks again and smiled slightly, loving seeing that. "I missed the way I am when you're around."
"And what's that?"
She stared at him for a second, the smile on her face getting bigger.
"Happy."
After the words left her mouth, she chuckled lightly and focused her attention back on her hands that were sitting in her lap.
"Well that's a coincidence because I missed you too, and I'm pretty sure that my performance the past few games shows how you make me feel."
She continued to stare down at her hands, but he could see her smiling. Since she wasn't looking up at him he lightly bumped his foot with hers. She looked up at him, smiling and he smiled back.
"Wanna get out of here?"
"Sure."
The pair exited the restaurant and headed back down to Adam's car. Once they had pulled away from the building he threw a glance her way.
"You want to come back to my place for a bit?"
"Sure. I've got all night."
She looked over at him and saw the smirk spreading across his lips.
"You shouldn't have said that."
A smirk played on her lips as she reached a hand over to rest it on his thigh, sliding it towards the inside of his leg.
"There's a reason I did."
He let out a breath as her hand slid further and he shook his head slightly.
"What happened to the quiet, blushing girl from five minutes ago?"
"Well, there's another aspect of us being together I missed too. It has been a week…" She squeezed his leg slightly.
He groaned slightly, "You're gonna kill me."
A soft chuckle rang from her throat.
"At least it would be a happy death."
As they pulled into his parking lot and into his designated space, Liz's seatbelt was off and she had crossed the space between them, grabbing his face and pulling it towards hers. They stayed that way for a few minutes before Adam pulled away.
"Two things. One, Dougie's home. Two, he wants to meet you when you're not in some stage of post-sex disarray."
She sat back in her seat laughing as Adam got out of the car to open her door for her.
"Awe, Dougie!" They started walking towards his building and she nudged his arm with her shoulder.
"So essentially you're telling me I have to be quiet tonight?"
"Unless you want to scar the poor kid, probably."
They both chuckled as they headed into the building and up the elevator to his door. Opening it, he ushered Liz in first and she immediately saw Dougie sitting on the couch watching a movie. She smiled to herself and started taking off her shoes.
"Hey Doug, this is Liz." Adam called from the door as he slid his shoes off.
Dougie stood up and Liz walked closer to the couch holding her hand out to him.
"Nice to meet you, properly this time." Dougie chuckled.
Adam saw the devilish smirk tugging at the corner of Liz's mouth and waited for what was about to come out of her mouth.
"I know, I'm not naked this time. Well, yet." She winked at him as she dropped his hand. Adam stood a few steps behind Liz, his head hanging and shoulders shaking as he silently laughed at her antics.
Dougie's face turned slightly white and he looked past Liz to Adam.
"I'm going to take that as my cue to head to Marchy's for the night."
As Dougie headed for the hallway their bedrooms were down Liz turned looking at Adam.
"I don't have to be quiet now."
"You're ridiculous."
"Oh, but I'm your ridiculous."
She closed the space between them and leaned up pressing her lips to his. They heard Dougie clear his throat behind them and parted, clearing the way in front of the door so he could head out.
"You guys have fun." He paused awkwardly. "Be safe."
The pair shared a chuckle as he made his way out of the apartment. As soon as the door closed, Liz was back up on her toes pressing her lips to Adams again.
"God, I missed kissing you." He moaned into her lips.
"Is that all you missed?"
He didn't answer, instead he picked her up and she squealed lightly, locking her legs behind his back.
"I'll take that as a no."

A few hours later the two laid in bed, tangled up in the sheets with Liz's head on Adam's chest and him running his fingers through her long hair.
"A week is way too long." She mumbled into his chest.
"Agreed." he sighed knowing that it wouldn't be the last time they would have a weeks worth of road games this season.
She proper herself up slightly so she could see his face. "So am I still ridiculous for talking Dougie out of staying here for the night?" She smirked.
"God no." He smirked and leaned forward to kiss her. She rested her head back on his chest.
"Speaking of you being ridiculous, I think I like the sounds of you being my ridiculous."
He could feel her smile on his bare chest.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, so what do you think about being my ridiculous girlfriend?"
She propped herself up on her elbow, resting her head on her palm looking at him.
"All official and stuff?"
He chuckled at her wording, "Yep. Only if you want to be."
"Adam McQuaid's ridiculous girlfriend. I think I like the sounds of that." She smiled down at him, probably the biggest smile he had seen on her all night. He leaned up wrapping one of his hands behind her head pulling her lips down to his. In that moment he had promised himself to always make her smile like she just had, because it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

Notes

And there it is! FINALLY together!
Hello beautiful people! All, almost 4,000 of you! (you're all insane by the way, but I like it.)
There's the next one! I hope you all enjoy it!
And if you do enjoy it, PLEASE comment. It's quite discouraging to see all these people reading but no one commenting.
Doesn't have to be a lot, just a little tidbit of a comment, anything!
I really have no idea where this is going to go now, so it will be a surprise for all of us!
Stay tuned!

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
