Pick-up

The next morning after practice Adam sat in the dressing room throwing his stuff in his bag so he could head home and get ready for his date that night with Liz. He smiled at the thought of her and pulled out his phone remembering he had to text her the details surrounding it. Seeing one of the guys walking into the room, he looked up and saw that Segs and Soupy had headed back in to grab their things. Looking back down to his phone, he heard Tyler's voice.
"Texting Liz, Quaider?"
He abandoned the message looking up at Tyler.
"Maybe, what's it to you?"
"Dude, is she the girl you went home with? You went home with Liz?" Greg smirked at Adam and then looked over to Tyler, "how did I not know it was Liz?"
"Seriously, did EVERYONE but me know her before a week ago?"
Greg chuckled looking back to Adam. "She hangs out with Katie sometimes, since she doesn't think that she should only hang out with Segs and his friends."
Adam chuckled, "she has a point there."
Throwing his bag over his shoulder, he walked across the room and clapped Adam on the shoulder, "good for you man, Liz is a cool girl. Just remember, she hangs out with Katie, so don't be a shit bag 'cause I'm gonna hear about it." He chuckled as he headed out of the dressing room leaving Tyler and Adam alone.
Tyler threw the last of his stuff in his bag before turning to Adam, "you gonna see her again?"
"Planning on it." He said returning back to his phone to type out his message.
"Like, booty call oooor?"
He chuckled before looking back up, "one day you're going to realize that there's more to life than the booty call, Segs. And no, not booty call. Proper date."
"Oooooooou, Quaider likes Liz, Quaider likes Liz," he sang mockingly, "where you taking her?"
"That I'm not telling you."
"Oh come on dude, there's only certain restaurants in this city that are deemed date worthy places, so it's not like I can't figure it out."
"If you really want to crash my date that badly, you need a life man."
"It's Liz!"
"And if you wanted to go on a date with her, you should have! You can't come on mine." He chuckled again before Tyler smirked at him and headed towards the door.
"Just teasing dude, no worries, she's all yours." As Tyler pushed the door open, Adam looked back to his phone to finally finish the text he was meaning to send.
'Morning sunshine, I was thinking instead of going to sit in a crowded restaurant all night we could just stay at my place and I can cook?'
He hit send, grabbing his bag throwing it over his shoulder and heading out of the locker room. When he got to his car, he looked down seeing that he had a message from Liz.
'Hmmm… hockey player cooking… so KD and grilled cheese? Sounds delicious ;)'
Smirking at his phone and shaking his head he replied quickly before starting his car.
'Easy to please, I like that ;) But I promise something better than KD and grilled cheese. Pick you up at 7?'
As he hit send, he pulled out of the parking lot and headed home.
Walking into his building, he read the next text from her.
'You don't have to leave your place to pick me up and bring me back to your place, I can get there!'
'Nope, it's a date. I'm picking you up. Address please :)'

Walking into his apartment he saw Dougie sitting on the couch.
"Hey man, favour to ask."
Dougie turned around looking at him and nodded his head.
"Mind making yourself scarce tonight? Just don't go to Segs or Marchy's."
He raised his eyebrow and stared at Adam.
"Sure, but why not Segs or Marchy…"
"Liz is coming over for dinner, and if you show up there they'll know she's here and the last thing I need is a convoy of Bruins ruining my night."
Dougie chuckled, "sure man, no problem." He started to turn back to the TV but stopped and turned back to Adam who was heading towards the kitchen. "Dinner with the girl you took home, huh?" Adam could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Yep, don't you start either." He chuckled pointing a finger at him and headed back to his room looking at his phone to see that Liz had sent over her address.

6:50 rolled around and Liz was sitting on the couch, ready for the night ahead. She was bouncing her leg, refusing to believe that she was nervous, when her roommate looked down the couch with her eyebrows raised.
"Nervous much?"
"Nope. Not at all."
Julie stared at her incredulously for a moment before Liz caved.
"Fine, I'm so nervous. And don't ask me why because I've already slept with him. Twice."
"You're right. You have no reason to be nervous. Unless you actually like this guy. Like, like like."
Liz chuckled at the ridiculous amounts of the word like in that sentence and shook her head.
"I don't know. UGH. I don't know. But I can't stop thinking about him, and holy banana shit you should SEE this guy naked. If I wasn't drunk and horny the other night, I'm sure I would have had an Emma Stone crazy, stupid, love moment admiring his beauty."
The two shared a laugh as they heard a knock on the door. Julie jumped up before Liz could, running to the door and stopping halfway there.
"Sorry, but I need to get a good look at this guy before you go boink him again." She said with a smirk on her face. Liz rolled her eyes as she heard the door open and the deep voice that followed it.
"Oh Liiiiiiiiiiiiiz," Julie's singsong voice echoed through the apartment. "You have a gentleman caller."
The nerves coming back to her, she grabbed her purse from beside the couch and slowly, nervously, made her way to the door.
Seeing Adam standing there, her face lit up, but she tried her best to hide it. As Julie started walking by her, heading back to the couch, she mouthed 'Daaaaaaamn girl' earning a chuckle from Liz before looking back to Adam again, smiling.
"Hey."
He smiled back at her, looking her over once.
"Hey back. You ready to go?"
She exhaled, nodding and headed out the door, yelling, "night Jules!"
"Night! Nice to meet you Adam!"
He chuckled yelling back, "you too!" before closing the door behind Liz and heading down the hallway again. He looked down at her walking beside him and smiled.
"You look great tonight."
They reached the elevator and she hit the button as she turned to look at him again taking in what he was wearing. He wore a simple grey button down shirt with jeans, but it looked fantastic on him.
"Thanks, you clean up pretty well yourself." she replied with a smirk.
They got onto the elevator, heading down and went out to his car which was parked out front. He hurried in front of her to open the door, and she smiled up at him.
"You didn't have to do that, but thank you."
He smiled down at her, "I always open doors for beautiful ladies."
"Well then, you must be opening a lot of doors."
He laughed, closing her door and heading around to the drivers side.
"Let me rephrase that, beautiful ladies that I have a thing for."
She smiled again, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks. He looked over at her and noticed the blush.
"I've only been around you three times, but if I had a nickel for every time I've made you blush, I'd be rich."
"I only blush when attractive men compliment me."
"Then you must blush a lot." He smirked, playing her comment back at her.
"Okay, I only blush when attractive men, that I have a thing for and are about to cook me dinner, compliment me." She chuckled looking over at him. He was staring at her with a half smirk on his face and a far off look in his eyes, before shaking his head and starting the car, pulling away from the building.
"Good to know."

Notes

HELLO LOVELIES!
So, this is kind of another filler chapter, but it's a necessary one!
I PROMISE that the next one will be their dinner, but I wanted to make it good and didn't want this one to be too long! Also, didn't want you guys to wait too long for some new stuff!

You aren't a horrible person!! Life happens, and it's okay to have taken a break. But now, if you're back, I'm so happy for updates to start coming back!!
I think that in a traditional sense, an engagement/wedding/etc. would come next. That's always an option to explore for Adam and Liz. If not, maybe just some good old-fashioned drama (car accident? hockey collision? sick baby?? ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES)
Honestly, I'll be happy to read anything about the McQuaids at this point. Just take your time and things ideas may come! :) :) :)
