I Trust you

Chapter 5
*April's POV*

“C'mon Ty just tell me what the surprise is!” I begged my brother as we made our way to the Master Card Centre for the first day of “training camp” even though it wasn't really a training camp and it was about two or three days of skating and warm up before the lockout shortened season officially started.

"Not yet you'll just have to wait till we get there.” Tyler said as I groaned in the passenger seat voicing my displeasure which got a chuckle out of Phil who was in the backseat.

“What are you laughing about?” I asked narrowing my eyes at Phil through the rear view mirror.

“Oh nothing.” He said smiling.

“You know what it is don't you?” I gasped quickly whipping around to look at Phil “Tell me!”

"No way.” He scoffed

"Pleeeeeeeeeease!” I pleaded giving Phil my best puppy dog eyes knowing he was a sucker for them.

“Oh no, Boz she's giving me the puppy dog eyes!” Phil complained to my brother.

"So?”

“Oh c'mon! You know I'm defenceless to them.”

"You don't have to worry about it anymore, were here.” Ty announced pulling into his spot at the MCC as we all got out of the car and made our way into the building.

“Alright your surprise is waiting for you in that office.” My brother said pointing to a door at the end of the hall.

“Who's office is that?” I asked.

“You'll see.” He replied as he pushed me down the hall towards the door before knocking on it.

"Ty, I'm not so sure about this.” I said suddenly feeling extremely nervous.

“You'll be fine.” He reassured me but I wasn't convinced.

"I don't want to do this.” I said turning around to face my brother even though I wasn't exactly sure what this even was but from the feeling I had I didn't like it. I tried to make a run for it but my brother was to fast and hence to strong for me to bypass him as he held a tight grip on my shoulders turning me around just as the door was open by none other than head coach Randy Carlyle.

"April” He smiled although this was the first time we were meeting but I guessed Tyler had told him about me.

“C'mon on in.” He gestured for me to come in to the office, I hesitated but – and of course – Ty pushed me into the room and I stumbled in awkwardly and then came face-to-face with Toronto Maple Leafs GM and assistant GM Brian Burke and Dave Nonis.

"Oh my god.” I whispered to myself wondering what my brother had gotten me into as Carlyle closed the door.

Damnit, I was trapped

"April it's a pleasure to finally meet you, your brother talks about you quite a bit.” Burke said as he Nonis and Carlyle all shook my hand.

“You can sit.” He said gesturing to the chair to my left.

“I'd rather stand.”

"Alright, well I'm sure your wondering why we've brought you in here.”

“Uh huh.” I replied

"Well April we'd like to offer you a job.” Burke said.

“What?” I said dumbfounded, why the hell would they want to offer me a job...then it dawned on me.

"Oh my god, did my brother make you guys do this?!” I asked as Burke began to laugh leaving me confused.

"While your brother certainly is a big name, he doesn't have that kind of power. Although he did suggest that we look into your educational accomplishments and I'll admit we were quite impressed.”

“Thank you.” I said

"Now, we understand that you have a degree in physical therapy?” Burke asked

"That's right.” I said finally feeling comfortable enough to sit down.

“How would you like to be the medical doctor for the Toronto Maple Leafs?” Burke smiled.

"Oh my god I would love to!” I gushed not even bothering to hide my excitement. “I just have one question, What would my job be exactly?”

"You would be behind the bench for every game, you'd take care of the minor injuries and report the more impact full, major ones and you would also be responsible of handing in a medical report on every player by the end of each week.”

"I'll take it.” I smiled

"Then it looks like you've got yourself a job.” Burke announced as someone cleared their throat.

"We must set some ground rules first." Nonis stated looking at me sternley.

"What kind of ground rules?" I asked

"While I'm sure you already know this but just to clarify when you are working with the team you are expected to act like a proffessional. And you are to absolutely not under any circumstances have any sort of romantic involvement with the players. Understood?" He asked as I nodded my head.

"Well then now it looks like you've got yourself a job.” Nonis smiled. I shook their hands again and was making my way out of the room.

“April, your going to be needing this.” Burke said handing me an employer jacket with A. Bozak written on it.

"Thanks.” I smiled making my way out of the office closing the door behind me. I admired the jacket a moment before putting it on then I decided to see if I could remember where the locker room was.

It's been ages since I last updated and I know that there
isn't much that goes on in this chapter but I thought it would be a good way to show how April gets started with the team.
