A Favor for a Friend

Chapter 12

I waited for Sid to come out so we could leave. He was taking literally forever. I answered some texts and made a call back home to my mom and he still wasn't there.

Finally Olli came out if the locker room. "Sid is taking forever and he is still showering so I said I would take you over." He said.

"Alright. Sounds good." I nodded.

"So how did you like the game?" He asked as we started walking out.

"It was great." I said with a bright smile, "Everyone was so proud of the little rookie getting his first goal." I said in a baby voice and patted his shoulder.

"Little? I wouldn't be talking." He said. It was true. I wasn't short being about five foot seven but he towered over me

"You know what I mean." I said shoving my hands in my pockets.

We walked through the cold and wind towards his car. October was even bitter cold at times down here.

Once we got in the car Olli turned to me. "Has Sod convinced you to stay yet?" He bit his lip after and glanced around.

No, don't start this..... "I can't stay. I wish I could." I said trying not to make a big deal that way it would end.

"Oh...." He replied. He was the only one who didn't fight it. "I was hoping you would change your mind." He obviously ha to force himself to say it, he wanted to just stay quiet.

I felt more guilty saying no to him than any of the others. But he would meet new people. He would have to. It's not like I'm the last new person he would ever meet.

"I can try to come back in the spring." I said trying to make it seem a little less depressing.

"I don't know about everyone else, but I will be counting down the days." He said with a shy smile.

It was killing me to see him even the smallest bit upset about it. Why was it bothering me with him but not Sid? Probably because I have known Sid longer.

"Do you have any idea where we are going?" I finally asked.

"It's a surprise." He said trying to hide his smile.

"What if I dot like surprises?" I asked. I really did hate surprises. When I turned fifteen my parents and friends threw me a surprise party and I hated it.

"Then you are going to have to suck it up and deal with it." He said as he drove through the city. The traffic getting out of the games was awful. It would take you twenty minutes just to get down a block. "Besides this is a good surprise "

"How do I know that unless I know where we are going?" I said looking over at him and crossing my arms.

"Because I told you it is." He said .

"I give up." I sighed. I would figure out sooner or later.
