Haunting Hallucinations

Oh, She’s Not A Psychologist….?

Nathan’s POV

Dolphi let us both out of her office of sex and lies. I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Dolphi Caffrey, the psychologist we were seeing was friends with my ex-best friend and teammate, Jonathan Drouin. I was also trying to recover from the “therapy”. Val and I walked down the hall, running into the two Blackhawks and the other guy...uh, Jaydrien.

“I love you, Jonny!” Patrick exclaimed.

“Kaner, not now. Dolphi could be lurking, do you wanna be punished again?” Jonathan hissed.

“No.” He was smiling. “Not by her - by you. Punish me, Jonny!” His grin grew larger.

Jonathan slapped him on the behind. “Don’t push me, Kaner!”

Patrick grabbed Jonathan’s shirt and I could hear him whisper, “Do it again! Spank me, Jonny!”

Jonathan did it again and made Patrick let out a soft noise. His cheeks flushed bright red and Jonathan grinned. “You like that don’t ya, Kaner?”

“Oh, yes, Jonny...I’ve been so bad! I need to be punished by you!”

“I’ll punish you good!”

And with that I turned to the depressed duo, who were awkwardly sharing glances. The Russian had met his twin, apparently. Jaydrien was looking at his feet. Val was looking at Jonathan and Patrick. He was slowly cocking his head to the side.

“So, you’re Jaydrien, right?” I asked the man.

He touched his head and I glimpsed a little beaded rat tail that he had. His floppy hair was similar to mine, but a deep brown color. His eyes were a deep shade of Aqua blue. They were rather pretty. “Uh,” he choked out, “Jaydrien Spooner.”

“He’s a future Blackhawk!” Jonathan Toews exclaimed. “He’s got nervousness and anxiety issues, which is why he was subjected to come here for treatment.”

Jaydrien’s head snapped up and he looked at his Captain. He opened his mouth, as though to say something, but no words or sounds came out. He simply closed his mouth once more.

I looked back to the Blackhawks’ leader, as he spoke once again. “It’s okay, Jay, we’ve all been there. Kaner started out like you, then the Hawks stuck us together.”

“And we’ve never looked back!” Patrick finished the thought off, reaching his hand up and combed his fingers through his teammate’s hair, making the Captain smile.

“Right.”

I spun back to see that Jaydrien was frowning and had closed his mouth. He reminded me of a Disney character...but I couldn’t quite remember who. He folded his arms in front of him and rolled his eyes. “Gross. I hope I don’t follow in your footsteps Kaner. I don’t think there’s anyone on the team, I could develop that close of a friendship with.”

“Oh, this isn’t a friendship, darling,” Jonathan laughed.

“No, it’s love!” Patrick exclaimed and nuzzled against his Captain, batting his eyelashes.

I saw Jaydrien roll his eyes again. He was apparently beginning to open up and not be so shy. Okay, he was the polar opposite of Val, who was watching people and smiling like a lost immigrant. He waved to them and I saw that they were somewhat freaked out. They also didn’t seem to recognize that we were all hockey players.

I turned back to see that Patrick and Jonathan were devouring each other again. Jaydrien stepped forward and prodded them both. “Stop it! You want to be humiliated by Dolphi again! Wow, you two need help!”

“I know...but Jonny’s just so hot!”

“And Kaner’s so sexy!”

“And I don’t care. I thought seeing a psychologist would be fun, but all it has done me zero good and I feel like it hasn’t been fun at all! I’m still the same me...with maybe more of a psychological scar!” Jaydrien remarked. “I really want to impress the Hawks and play, but I can’t without help!”

“That’s true! Has she done “therapy sessions” with you?” I asked.

“Yeah, but that’s not the problem. I don’t really care about that anymore. I like it, actually.” the young rookie said. “It’s the fact that she hasn’t helped me out. I just want to impress Q and play in the NHL, but I can’t if I have anxiety and issues!”

“Wait--you like the rape?” I asked.

“Yeah. And I don’t think of it as rape. Not to me. Dolphi’s kinda hot. I know, I sound like Tyler Seguin...but we have a thing. I just want to be in the NHL too and have feelings for her!”

I was shocked. How could anyone like this? This Blackhawk rookie was strange, but in a way kind of cool. He was super positive and it seemed a little off that he couldn’t succeed in the NHL, he had the brain mentality and drive.

“You like Tyler?” Val questioned. “He like girls too. You and him should be friends!”

Jaydrien blinked and looked at him. “I’d love to meet Tyler, but I’m proud to be a Hawk and I’m not a fan of Tyler’s “impetuousness” and inability to notice when he’s in the wrong. He’s too easy to hit on, but I actually like it when pretty girls hit on me and I like them back. And Dolphi is one of those. I’m like Tyler, but in a way not as aloof and blind as him.”

“Okay…”

“And I just wish she could actually help me out. Besides, she’s done nothing with Kaner and Tazer’s love for one another. Is she even a psychologist?”

I looked away briefly. “Nope.”

Jaydrien stared at me. “How do you know?”

“She told me and Val that she was hired by a man named Jonathan Drouin.”

“Jonathan Drouin?”

“He’s an old friend of mine and the rookie for the Tampa Bay Lightning. I think he is jealous and still seeking revenge on me and Val. I’m not sure why he’s after Val, but he’s sure after me.”

Jaydrien raised an eyebrow. “Oh...so she’s not a psychologist?”

“Nope. She’s a friend of Jo’s! This is all my fault though! I started this all because I had to hurt him in Halifax! I’m so clumsy!” I looked down and then buried my head in my hands. It was true. This was all happening because of me and now Jo was pulling in other innocent people.

“Who’s Jo?”

“It’s what I call Jonathan Drouin!” I explained.

“What’s this about Jonathan Drouin?” Jonathan asked, coming over, with Patrick still draped all over him. I wasn’t sure who was clingier: Patrick Kane or a woman?

I looked at the Chicago player. “It’s his fault that the “psychologist” Dolphi is conducting her sessions. I’m sorry you guys had to get sucked into this. But Jo’s got no right dragging you into a fight between me and him. I need to stop this!”

“But how? We can’t leave.” Patrick spoke, resting his head against his friend and lover’s chest. His blue eyes glittered with fright.

“The front door is right there, how come?” I inquired. I walked up to the door and tried the door, but something wasn’t right. It wouldn’t open for me. And when someone walked in, I tried to take a step forward, but was halted from going forward. It was almost like an invisible force was keeping me there.

I spun around to see the scared faces of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Val Nichushkin, and Jaydrien Spooner.

“Told ya!” Jaydrien shouted.

I backed away and raced back over to the group. “What-what--?” Jo had done this. He’d really spiraled after the injury. He was an EVIL MASTERMIND!!

Notes

OMG the Kazer moments in this. Haha! Kaner would like to be punished and spanked by Tazer. :P

I get what you mean, and it isn't harsh. Not at all. I like this feedback. I'd rather receive this type of "feedback" then none. I like it when people point something out that I need to change. ;) Thank you and I went ahead and changed it a little, so feel free to check it out and see if it works now. I didn't like Landy jumping to the conclusion of Jo, so I instead tweaked the conversation. See if it works? :P
Iggy doing drugs is Jo's "excuse".

@EvelynaKitty
Well, I said that because it can be like the first thing and the reader can be like confused at what was happening, but then when they read that Jo is mad at Nathan and Nathan and Val find out why they are hallucinating, then the reader can be like, "OHHH!!! That's was what the beginning was about! Jo being evil! I get it!" But if you don't want to do that (which I totally understand why), you can not let Nathan and Val know why they are hallucinating until like after they are done with their therapy sessions. It just doesn't make sense for them to just all of a sudden find out right after that scene of Jo being evil and then they just randomly go to a mental hospital place because they've been practically drugged. They should go to that place because they think that they have mental issues--they shouldn't be going there if they know that it's not their fault that they have hallucinations, it's just the drug's fault. And the hallucinations should've worn off if they only drank the water with the drug by now...
Sorry if this sounds harsh :P Just trying to help you out! :)
But what would be the purpose of Iggy taking drugs?

@A Shruinger
Well, why do you think that it would make more sense to have it be at the beginning of the story? And I get what you mean about them finding out though...but I'm not quite sure how else to do that part? I did re-read it and I am currently trying to fix the "quickness" or it. I don't like it, but what about Iggy doing drugs?? :P

Wow, I would've knew had guessed that Jo was the reason why they were having hallucinations. But I think that for suspense that you should've put Jo's part of him being evil at the WAAAY beginning of this story. It seemed like Jo's part and the figuring out of the reason behind the hallucinations was just way too easy for the characters and that they should've figure out the reason behind the hallucinations after they go to the mental hospital thing... Just my thoughts, so yea :) But nice reason why they were having hallucinations ;)
