INT. Antti Niemi's House - Day

Sidney flies to San Jose from Pittsburgh and 'bombards' Antti's house.

Sidney
Antti!? (walks around)
Antti! Nieeeemi?!
Anttiiiiiiii!!!?
Where arrrrrrre
yooooooou?
(walks to backyard and
finds Antti practicing
goalie, which is practically
crouching down, moving
from side to side, laying
down while pucks flying
towards the goal.)

Sidney
There you are!

Antti
(looks up and
stands up)
Sidney? What are
you doing--?
(a flying puck hits
him and he falls)

Sidney
Antti!

Sidney runs down to
the ice rink and helps
him up.

Sidney
Antti, are you okay?

Antti
I'm fine, I'm fine,
it's just that stupid
puck shot--
(gets hit by another
puck)

Sidney
I'll turn that thing off.
(slides away to the machine & turns it off.
Then he skates back
to Antti)
Antti
Thanks.

Sidney
No prob. So, how
many goals did you save?

Antti
200/712

Sidney
I should consider retiring.

Antti
No, it's not me, it's that
stupid machine. But why
are you here?

Sidney
I'm here because...
(thinks for a moment)
I forgot why.

Antti
You came here to know
something, right?

Sidney
Oh yes! Jonathan told me
that you used to be in the
Blackhawks. Is that true?

They both get up and exit the
ice rink, into the house.

Antti
Yes, that is true. Hadn't you ever
looked me up on Google Images?

Sidney
No...I only look up myself.

Antti
Well, (sits down) I was first
drafted when I was twenty-three
years old to the Blackhawks.

Sidney
And how old are you now?
Antti
Thirty-two

Sidney
Oh.

Antti
Yes, I was their only and
best goalie. We even won the
Stanley Cup.

Sidney
Like me! (smiles)

Antti
Well, except that you
weren't a goalie.

Sidney
Right.

Antti
The players, Coach, and fans
loved me. Until...

Sidney
Until what?

Antti
Until Corey Crawford came.

Sidney
Oh, so this wasn't that
long ago--he's now the
main goalie.

Antti
Yes, he took my place.
The coach considered tying
Corey out in a real game, but
the team didn't want to risk
losing. But soon enough, the
coach tried him out, and...

Sidney
And what?

Antti
...he was MUCH better
than me. I would let one,
two, maybe three pucks slide
by me, but with Crawford, zero.
With that, the Coach used him
instead of me. Then another goalie,
Ray Emery, came in.
The coach had so many goalies
I was gonna be traded to the Sharks.
And it happened, as you can see.
And that was the story of me in
the Blackhawks.

Sidney(claps)
Beautiful, wonderful story!

Antti
Thank you, thank you. I think that
it wasn't a great day to tell that
story...

Sidney
Because you're gonna play against
them today, right?

Antti
Yes, that's right.

Sidney
Wait, but why are you friends with
Patrick Kane?

Antti
(sighs)
When I was the goalie of the Blackhaws,
Patrick and I were best buddies, going
on missions and helping out one another.
But whenI was moved to the Sharks, we had
no way to be in contact which we wanted to
be, so I made him my assistant.

Sidney
Oh...that makes sense...

Antti
(looks at clock)
It's 2:00. In your time, it's 5:00.
Aren't you suppose to be in practice?

Sidney
Oh my gosh, I forgot!
Thanks for reminding me!
Bye!
(Sidney runs out of the house)

I hope he won't get taken
over by another good player,
like what happened to me.
