Brad Hawkley and the Forgetting Powers

They all turned around to see the chief standing there. It was Brad Hawley.

“Hawkley?! What are you doing away from the computer?” Evelyn inquired with curiosity.

“I had to come for Patrick...but I take it I no longer need to or can.”

“Patrick?” the superheroine questioned, turning to her friend. “Hawkley what are you talking about?”

“You might as well know now, you’ll find out anyway…” the older man folded his arms and halted at the edge of the ice.

“What are you saying?” the redhead continued.

“I’m saying that I’m the one who has been taking their memories. You know how Kaner and the Hawks never know you? That’s my doing!”

“But why?” Patrick asked.

“Because things can get dangerous if everyone knows there is a superhero around! Only the rescuer and the rescuee can know about the hero. That is why Jonathan knew about you and remembered you, while Patrick did not. But now, Jonathan is a hero and so Patrick is fine to know about him.”

“But why? How does that make sense?” Patrick pressed.

“It’s so the hero can communicate. You know that, say Patrick gets into terrible trouble again, he will have to communicate with Jonathan and scream for him to come save him. That is how it works.”

“But why can’t anyone know about me?” Jonathan questioned.

“Or me?” Evelyn added on.

“Because they are not heroes, nor a damsels in distress. And Brooke can, because she is a friend. And when the need arises she can help you out, but the others cannot live in the mortal world knowing there are heroes and heroines. Does this make sense?”

“Kind of,” Evelyn responded. “But, I’m not sure I understand...how do you take their memories without hurting them?”

Hawkley faced her and nodded. “A good question. The process is simple, quick and painless, but if you remember back to the Street Hockey Accident…”

“The one when I was almost run over by a car?” Jonathan questioned.

“Yeah. Remember that one?” the older man asked the redhead.

“I do. How could I not?” Evelyn stated.

****

Sometime in Mid-2012 (Over Summer)

Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby, Tyler Seguin, Brad Marchand, Andrew Shaw, Duncan Keith and Niklas Hjalmarsson had all gathered together for a street hockey game over the summer in the parking lot area of the United Center in Chicago. Tyler, Patrick, Duncan, and Jonathan were going against Sidney, Andrew, Niklas, and Brad. They were just entering a break, after Brad got a breakaway chance and was "hooked" by Tyler.

Brad slammed his stick down on the gravel of the street. “Oh c’mon, that was a hook!” The pest complained to Sidney, as he pointed at Tyler, smiling.

“You’d like it to be, wouldn’t you Marchy?! You haven’t changed a bit,” Tyler retorted, folding his arms.

“So, you were talking about some chick who always comes and saves you Jonny?” Sidney asked, ignoring his fellow Halifax native.

The Blackhawk leader shrugged. “Yeah. It’s nothing really. Her name is Black Hawk and she’s like my personal heroine. She has this bizarre ability to show up at the right time and save me.”

“That’s so cool, buddy!” Patrick remarked, like he didn’t know and slapped his friend on the back. Then he swiveled his stick around, deking an already distracted Brad Marchand. The blond easily tapped the puck into the net and then whirled around, laughing. “Anytime, eh, Marchy?”

“You got lucky! Lucky, Kaner!” Brad snapped back, pulling on his jersey and then charging at the Chicago winger.

They cross-checked each other, laughing and chirping one another.

“I wish I had my own personal superhero girlfriend. That’d be sick!” Tyler exclaimed.

“Yeah,” Sidney sighed.

“Well, who knows, maybe she’s not the only one out there,” Jonathan suggested.

Andrew had joined in to help Brad out and now the two of them were shoving Patrick back. Duncan stood to the side shaking his head and rolling his eyes. Niklas was sitting on the ground and was just moving his stick around in front of him, unsure of what to do.

Jonathan dug his stick into the net and gathered the puck into his blade and sent it out toward where Sidney was. The Pittsburgh Penguin stopped it and stickhandled it, only to have it taken by the feisty pest of Boston. Brad ran away with their puck. Jonathan gave chase after him.

“C’mon Marchy, stop it!”

“You’re gonna have to come and get me first.”

The pest whirled around on the other side of the street and taunted Jonathan with the ball puck, as he quickly tapped it back and forth in the control of his sticking. The Blackhawk Captain sighed and stepped into the median of the street, which wasn’t blocked off for them. It was also a big mistake.

Suddenly a shiny black car came screeching out of nowhere, heading straight for him. (It's like those kind that show up in movies all the time during chase scenes or whatever.) (Also, it wasn't a villain character behind the wheel thought, just an unfortunate accidental case. It's a random driver.)

“Jonny, look out!” Patrick, Sidney and Tyler screamed. They started forward to help him, when suddenly a flash of black shot out of the sky and Jonathan Toews vanished...to safety? The three looked to the sky and all around for where their friend had vanished too.

Eventually a person with wings floated down to them, holding onto another person.

“You just cannot seem to stay out of trouble, can you Jonny?” the person remarked, as she landed on the ground.

Jonathan was clinging tightly to her neck. “Thanks Black Hawk!”

“You’re welcome, sweetie,” the woman replied.

“Whoa, Jonny, this is her - the chick you were talking about?” Sidney gasped.

Beside the Penguin, the Dallas Star blushed and then stepped forward, asserting himself. He outstretched his arm in the woman’s direction, as she released the Blackhawk. “Hey, I’m Tyler Seguin.” He winked and gave her a smoldering “Flynn Rider” look.

“Hey, I’m not interested,” she remarked, eyeing him up and down with a disgusted look. She folded her arms across her chest.

“Oh, Segs, she torched you, man!” Brad catcalled, as he darted back over. The Bruin pest tackled his friend, entrapping him with his hockey stick. Tyler fought with him, threatening to snap his stick, if he didn’t back off.

“What do you mean? No one’s ever turned me down?” Tyler gasped.

“Not my type, Tyler. No offense, but I’m more of a Blackhawk person.”

“Chicago!” Tyler muttered under his breath. He was soon back to normal though, as he was chirped by Andrew and Brad some more about his “love life.”

Evelyn walked over to Jonathan, who was hugging Patrick. “Now, try not to get into any more problems today, okay?”

“Yes, Ev--Black Hawk.”

“Good, now, take care, have fun, stay out of trouble, pester Seguin and all that!” Evelyn remarked and flapped her wings, lifting off of the ground.

“We will,” Patrick exclaimed. “I’ll keep an extra close eye on him.”

With that, she shot off and vanished from the scene, leaving an excited and chuckling group of guys. They all picked on Jonathan now, slapping him on the back and chirping him. He didn’t mind. He could take it. After all, he was the Captain for Chicago and he could handle his friends.

And soon the street game continued on.

“What about that?” Evelyn asked her superior.

“Well, after the game split up...Jonathan split the group because--” Hawkley began.

“I had to get to an interview rapidly…” Jonathan interrupted, remembering the instant.

“Right. That was me who called you. When you left, I zapped all of their memories of the incident. It’s similar to what the Men in Black did, only I use my hand. Tyler was the first one, I just pointed my hand at him, emitted a glowing white ball and viola, his memories are gone.”

“So you just made us forget seeing Evelyn and knowing about her, right?” Patrick questioned.

“Right. I didn’t take any other memories but the ones of the superhero, it just rights the world and the future.”

“Okay, that makes sense, but why did you never tell me?” Evelyn inquired.

“I was afraid that you’d get in way or ruin the natural order. I had to wait. And you’ve been getting more and more mature and also curious, I knew now was the right time to tell you.”

“I see. Well, I guess you do have a point,” Evelyn sighed.

“Aye. Now, we must all return to the states and figure out if anyone else saw you, I will give you all a few minutes,” Hawkley remarked and dipped his head.

“Good bye Hawkley and its nice to understand the forgetfulness of people now,” Evelyn stated.

“Yes, farewell all and job well done on eliminating the LOD. Nice teamwork. Also I look forward to working with ‘Captain Blackhawk’ there.” He winked and then turned on his heels and headed down the tunnel. “I’ll be waiting outside for you!”

Evelyn and Jonathan nodded to one another. Evelyn deactivated her hawk look and helped Jonathan out to do the same. His activation was a Blackhawk symbol implanted in his wrist, almost like a tattoo. When he waved his hand over it, his wings vanished and he became a mortal once more.

“Well I guess we are all good to go, we should get back to the States. I’ve had enough of Russia,” the redhead heroine remarked after a few seconds of silence.

“Hey!” Val pouted his lip and folded his arms, faking a tantrum.

“You’re all the Russian I need, sweetie!” Evelyn said, smiling at him, as she stroked his hair and the side of his face, before grabbing him by the chin and drawing him close to her for a passionate kiss.

Then they all headed off the rink and down the tunnel, heading out of the arena.

“So, one question, where did that pit of darkness go with Kaleta, Strum, Vanek, and Brawler?” Patrick asked, as they emerged from the dimly lit tunnel of the arena and burst out into the gorgeous Russian sunset.

Hawkley stood by his car, waiting for them. Just as he had told them, he was right there. Kelly, Brooke, Val and Jonathan walked over and got in, while Evelyn turned to Patrick, smiling at him.

“Hopefully hell,” Evelyn remarked.

“Heroes and villains have a hell?” Patrick questioned, cocking his head to the side in flummoxed curiosity.

“Oh yes. Villains go to hell, unless they are righted and heroes go to Heaven. But I’m positive that they won’t come back.”

“Right, thanks for saving me and being so cool about Jonny being like you now...and liking me.”

“It’s no problem Patrick, Jonny’s got great tastes, like I do. And I know you two will be fine. Besides I got a sweet little Russian boy.” She put an arm around the blond and they got into the car.

Notes

Okay, I think that sums up everything from the Black Hawk chapter. That's the end pretty much. There is one last chapter, but it's an epilogue.
A Shruinger, the epilogue will be Black Hawk's new form, so essentially if you want to go back over it now, you can just to see if all the angles/questions/whatever are answered and that everything is crystal clear...or at least makes sense and can be figured out. I'm just going on and on, sorry...

Next up: The end and Zvezda!!

1. :D
2. Okay, I'll look at that. ;)
3. XD
4. Okay. True, you are right. I'll put twinkling in then instead of flickering. :)
5. Understandable and yeah, I'll message you further with it when you reply next. And you can also list the limitations in the message too for me. The ones you find out from the page that is. :)

@EvelynaKitty
1. You're welcome! ;)
2. Um, the one like when Z says something like, "Stay out of trouble, Val," in Russian and all the Russian below that ;)
3. Hahaha! I also have a Russian keyboard ;) Cool! :)
4. Oh...that's more like 'twinkling,' not 'flickering.' Flickering is more like, suddenly, slashy, movements, making things disappear and reappear quickly, like a flame or a glitch. Twinkling is like sparkling, the brightness softly growing bright then dimming down. I think you mean 'twinkling' since stars twinkle, not flicker.
5. Yea, great power does come with great exhaustion when used! XD But it's not fun when two superhumans have the same limitations. :P Instead, maybe like let her struggle making the black hole, like let her have a hard time creating it and controlling it (with this, you'll have to redo the last chapter :P ) Or maybe there's this one limitation I read where when a user uses her power, then she can't use like her power for like a certain amount of time; applied to this: if Z uses her Black Hole Creation, then she can't use her powers for like, let's say, a week. I dunno. Those are some limitations there. But I can also go back to the profile of the Black Hole Creation to see the limitations on there. And she's gotta watch out with that hold too because she just might suck in some people/objects that aren't suppose to go in there X) But yea, you can email or message me about this if you'd like to :) I can't tell you, I'll spoil it for ya! ;) And that's right, I gotta get on typing up the update! I shall do that like right now ;)
You're totally welcome! :)

1. Hmmmm....okay, I remember double checking it and putting the right one in. But maybe not...I don't know, if it's wrong I'll change it. Thanks.
2. Weird...I normally do. What are the phrases that need translations??
3. I'll fix that via my handy-dandy Russian keyboard. :)
4. Yeah, like a star flickers in the night sky, that's one I am picturing, which should just be flickered. :)
5. Okay, yeah, what do you suggest with the limits for her then. And I don't want to go into too much detail here with it...it can happen in the sequel but that is a helpful thing to know. I mean Jonny can get so mad he exhausts himself and almost kills himself, so Zvezda should have something like that, that is true. But I'm not sure what limits to the Black Hole or her Power of the Stars can be. (We chat about this through email or the message system though.) It's not Tavy or Jonny though, right? It's NEMO!!!! Or Kari!!
Thanks! XD

Okay, I read and this is what I got:
1. For the subtitle for this chapter, I translated and the first part was translated to 'Star of my charcter...,' so I decided to help ya out and for 'Star is my hero,' I got 'Звезда мой герой.' ;)
2. Can you put in translations, please? 8)
3. 'ладно' needs to be capitalized: 'Ладно.'
4. 'Flickered away.' Can you describe this more beacuse I picture her just glitching into nothingless, unless that's what you're aiming for :P
5. Alright, so I think Z's unstoppable because she can make black holes easily. And no one would be able to stand up to her with that great of power (unless they have something that has to do with taking away powers or nullifying powers or having omnipotence, then it's fine). Maybe with her creating such a powerful thing, she should have like a cost to it or a struggle making it so that it can be difficult and the villains can have somewhat of an edge. Maybe put a limitation. Because if a character has very powerful powers, then it'll be easy for them and the plot wouldn't be that strong, including the climax and it's expected for that character to win easily due to the strong powers. So I highly recommand putting limitations on her-- Don't worry, I have a character coming up in Mission very soon that is going to have GREAT power, but he's gonna have many limitations so that he can be somewhat vulnerable and make things less easy for him ;) Either place limitations or have a villain that is very powerful (but not too powerful, of course)! Just a tip for creating a better superhero story ;)
Other than that, all good! :)
