Patrick Kane blinks back the tears, as he spots his best friend Jonathan Toews coming towards him in the line for the Canada-USA matchup. He is struggling not to cry and it isn’t just because his American team has lost again to Canada, but it is becoming a burden to hide his feelings for the brunette man.

Jonathan immediately grabs Patrick hand and pulls him in for a hug. Time slows down. And then a very “un-Jonathan Toews-like” thing happens. He breaks out in song...and dance.

“Come stop your crying
It will be alright
Just take my hand
Hold it tight.”

“I will protect you
From all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry,” Jonathan sings to Patrick.

Patrick blinks, looking at him and then launches into song as well.

“For one so small,
You seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
Keep you safe and warm,” Patrick sings to Jonathan, wrapping his arms around the Canadian.

“This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry,” Jonathan sings, embracing Patrick as well and then grabbing his hands into his own.

“'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more.”

“You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always,” they sing together, dropping the hand-holding and just stand, staring at one another.

“Why can't they understand the way we feel?
They just don't trust what they can't explain
I know we're different but deep inside us
We're not that different at all,” Patrick sings.

Jonathan grabs Patrick’s hands and leads him away from the line. He twirls him around a few time to the side. Everyone else halts and looks at them. Sidney Crosby and Ryan Getzlaf stand together, folding their arms and cocking weird smiles.

Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more,” the both sing, as they twirl around, deep in their emotional song.

“Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know?” Jonathan sings.

“What do they know?” Patrick sings as an echo.

“We need each other
To have, to hold.
They'll see in time
I know,
When destiny calls you
You must be strong,” Jonathan sings out, twirling Patrick into his arm like a man dipping a woman in a dance. He let him slide down, but catches him and holds Patrick strongly, refusing to let him drop. It earns a few whistles from the other players (including Getzlaf).

“You gotta be strong,” Patrick echoes.

Jonathan yanks Patrick up, into his arm and cradles him gently.

“I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together,” Jonathan sings.

The Canadian brunette spins the American blond back out before him, keeping their hands entwined together. They begin to skate around in a circle.

“'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart,” they both sing.

"Believe me, you'll be in my heart," Jonathan sings with a smile.

“I'll be there from this day on,
Now and forever more,” they both sing.

“Oh, you'll be in my heart,” Jonathan sings.

“You'll be here in my heart!” Patrick echoes.

“No matter what they say,” Jonathan sings.

“I'll be with you,” Patrick sings.

“You'll be here in my heart,” Jonathan sings.

“I'll be there,” Patrick sings.

“Always!” Jonathan sings.

“Always,
I'll be with you
I'll be there for you always
Always and always,” they both sing.

Jonathan yanks Patrick back toward him and he wraps his arms around Patrick’s shoulder and waist, while still holding onto his hands. They begin to sway back and forth, grinning. Patrick turns to look over his shoulder at Jonathan, whose head is extremely close to his friends.

“Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder,” Jonathan sings.

“Just look over your shoulder
I'll be there always,” they both sing.

“KISS!! KISS!!” the chanting sounds.

Jonathan drops his head and kisses Patrick on the lips sure enough. Patrick welcomes him in. They are finally out there. Then he blinks and the scene dissolves. He finds himself back in the line, continuing on. He looks back at Jonathan, who is shaking hands with another American. Patrick shakes his head. It’s not the right moment…not yet.
