Tyler glanced over at Savannah, wondering if she could handle being on the ice with her leg injury. She was walking okay, but being on the ice was different. "Have you ever skated?" he asked, realizing he didn't actually know the answer. She had mentioned she didn't know how to shoot a puck, but he had no idea if she could even skate.

"I grew up in Minnesota, of course I've skated," she told him. "Though, I have to admit, I haven't since I was a kid. Secret time, I actually hated skating."

Tyler's head spun around to look at her. "What!?" he cried. "How do you hate skating?"

She shrugged her shoulders while she laughed at his reaction. "I don't know, I wasn't good at it, I guess. My parents put both me and Shea in hockey when we were like six, and I sucked, and I wanted to quit, and after a while, they let me. Shea was better than I was, but she only stayed in it for a few years," she said. Tyler had no idea either of them had played hockey. There was a lot still left to learn about Savannah and her family.

"Well I'll make sure this is a better experience," he promised her. "Come on, let's eat first, then skate." She stared at him when he casually walked onto the ice in his regular shoes.

"What?" he asked when she didn't follow him.

"I will kill myself if I try to make it across that ice in these," she said, pointing down to the heeled knee-high boots she was wearing.

"You'll be fine," he told her, but she didn't budge. He came back off the ice, holding out his hand. "I promise I won't let you fall," he said.

She hesitated but finally grabbed his hand, inching out onto the ice. He tried his best not to laugh at her as she acted like this was her first time on ice and she'd never seen it before.

"Stop making fun of me," she whined, having gone maybe two feet on the ice.

"I'm not making fun of you!" Tyler exclaimed. "But I am surprised you're letting me help you right now," he pointed out. He half expected her to snatch her hand away, but it was clear not falling was more important to her than being independent. Maybe she was hurting more than she was letting on.

Two minutes passed, and Tyler felt like they'd been on the ice for twenty. He was hungry after the game, and he knew Savannah was nervous about falling on the ice, but this was too much for him. "Okay, this is taking too long," he spoke his mind. Savannah looked over at him, but before she could even say anything, he had picked her up, carrying her in his arms easily.

"Oh my God, Tyler! Put me down!" she screeched. "You're going to kill us both! Put me down!"

He let her continue to make a scene until he had them over to the other side, and he set her down in one of the seats. "Look, I didn't kill you, and I got us over here a lot faster." She was pouting, but he knew she'd let it go as soon as she started eating. "Here," he said, handing her a plate of food. He had called in a favor from a local Italian restaurant and got it set up that they'd deliver two servings of their best pasta dishes.

She still was upset that he had carried her over, but she took the food anyways. He knew what was going to put a smile on her face, and he grabbed the other bag. "And this is for you, as well."

She opened the bag and peeked inside. She smiled as she shook her head. "I can't believe you got this," she laughed, taking the Jack Daniels bottle out of the bag.

"Diet Coke is already in the cup," he added, taking the whiskey bottle out of her hands and opening it up, pouring some into her cup of pop.

As they ate their food, Savannah looked over at him. "So question for you," she spoke. She had let her anger from being carried go by now, so he was curious as to what she was going to ask.

"Hmm?" he hummed, having just taken a huge bite of food that he was still chewing.

"So this is date number two," she said, and he nodded his head in confirmation. "What makes me different?"

He was confused by her question. "What do you mean?"

"You don't do second dates," she commented. He couldn't argue with that, but he didn't know where she was going with this. "You're a one night stand kind of guy. So what makes me different? Is it the chase? After going after Shea for so long?"

"Savannah, where is this coming from?" he asked, putting down the food and spinning around so he was facing her straight on.

"Because we've never discussed it," she said, following his lead and putting her food down as well, but she kept her drink in her hand. "This started out and was supposed to just be sex, and then you asked me out. And I guess I'm just confused as to why."

He could tell she had been thinking about this for a while. He wanted to tell her to just let it go, as this was really ruining the date. But, he could tell that if he tried to tell her that, then she would likely just storm off. She wasn’t going to let this go. "I don't know," he admitted. "You're different. I actually wanted to see you more than just sex that first night. That doesn’t happen….like ever."

"How many times have you had a second date?" she asked him.

He ran a hand over his face, hating every moment of this conversation. "Savannah," he groaned.

"That many, huh?" she joked.

"Once."

"Seriously, once?"

"Yes. Once. Now do you want a list of all my one night stands next?" he asked, his tone coming out a little harsher than he had intended, but he really hated this conversation. The past was the past for a reason. Yes, he was the king of one night stands, but Savannah was different, and he didn't feel like trying to prove that to her.

Savannah shut her eyes tight. "No," she sighed.

"Did someone say something to cause this conversation?" he asked her. "Because I thought the past was just something we weren't going to bring up." Savannah bit her lip. He was surprised she didn't have much to say. She always had something to say. "What's going on?" he asked her.

"I don’t know," she muttered. "I just…I don’t know. Let's forget it," she sighed.

He looked at her. Something was on her mind, and he wasn't quite sure what it was. He decided to appease her by answering her question from earlier, even though he had this feeling it was a bad idea to go down this road. "One girl. Several years ago. We dated for a few months, but I wasn't ready for a commitment. So I cheated on her. Broke her heart. And from then on decided I wasn't a relationship guy. One night stands are much easier."

His answer shocked her. He could tell by the look on her face. "And where do I fit into the equation?"

"I'm not cheating on you, if that's what you're asking."

"Well this is only the second date, not a lot of time to cheat on me," she said half-jokingly.

"I think if I even thought of cheating on you, you'd drop kick me," he said with a chuckle, wanting to lighten the mood. "Look, I'm not cheating on you, and I'm not planning on it. No, I'm not a relationship guy, but how I feel about you is different."

She seemed to accept that answer with a nod of her head. "I kinda ruined the date, didn't I?" she asked.

He wanted to say yes, but decided against it. "Date isn't over yet," he told her.

She looked at him curiously and then down at the food they had finished off a few minutes before. "Looks like dinner is over. Unless you want to get me drunk, all we've got left is alcohol," she said with a laugh. She'd already had two drinks, and Tyler thought she might go for a third if they continued their conversation about past relationships.

"Date two is not over until you shoot a puck into the net," he stated.

She stared at him. "You can't be serious."

"I'm dead serious," he answered. "Come on, it's not that hard. I'll even let you move up close."

"Did we not just have a discussion about how I can't be on the ice in these shoes? Plus, I just had two drinks!"

"One, you're right about the shoes. Those aren't good for shooting a puck, but we'll make it work. And two, you drink like every night, you're basically in your normal state now," he said, earning a glare from Savannah. "You get one puck in the net, and we can go." She still wasn't keen on this, and she wasn't moving out of her seat, even though Tyler had stood up and walked towards the ice. "Hey, I shot a gun, you can shoot a puck!"

Savannah stood up, her hands on her hips. "Fine," she muttered. "But if you make one peep about how I shoot the puck, this date is over." She was joking, but she tried to feign seriousness. "Do I get to use Tyler Seguin's stick to shoot?" she asked.

He grinned. "You bet!" He quickly went to the locker room to grab the stick he'd used during the game and came back out. "Here you go," he said, handing it to her.

She held it in her hands. "This is huge," she mumbled.

"That's what she said," he joked.

Her eyes went wide. "Oh my God, you did not just say that," she laughed.

Tyler was bursting out laughing as well. "Come on, I'll help you out there, but then you're all on your own," he told her. She allowed his help this time and he got her out to the middle of the ice and then moved her towards one of the nets.

"I'm seriously going to fall in these shoes on the ice," she told him. "Are you even going to feel bad if I hurt my leg again?" she asked him.

"You're not going to fall," he assured her. "But, if you do, I promise to take care of you," he added with a wink. He then put the puck down on the ice in front of her.

"What do I get if I get it in the net?" she asked him, looking down at the puck and then down the ice at the net. He had a feeling it was going to take her a while to get it in the net, and he already planned on moving her closer when she was having difficulty.

"What do you want?"

She bit her lip, thinking about it. "I get it in, and you have to tell me one secret about yourself. Something that no one else knows."

It was a good bet, he had to admit. And he was positive she wasn't getting it in the net first try. "Deal," he smirked at her.

She looked again at the puck and then Tyler could have sworn she shut her eyes when she took the shot. He looked down at the net and couldn't believe his eyes when the puck hit the edge of the net and then slid in, hitting the back of the net. "Oh my God!" she screamed, jumping up and down, grabbing a hold of his arm when she almost fell down.

He put his arm around her to keep her steady, but his eyes stayed at the other end of the ice. "How the fuck did you do that?"

She grinned. "Beginner's luck? But guess what?" she said, poking his chest, gaining his attention. "You now have to tell me a secret!"

He looked down in her eyes. She was happy. This was a big change from twenty minutes before when she was asking for his dating history. He sighed, knowing she was right. "A secret, huh?"

She nodded her head. "One that no one else knows."

He thought about it for a moment before a sly grin spread on his face. "I've never had shower sex before," he told her.

She narrowed her eyes at him. "Is that lie or a line?"

"Not a lie," he put his hand up in a "Scout's Honor" motion. "It may be a line, only if you're up for it," he grinned.

"Tyler Seguin," she shook her head, but didn't say no.

"What do you say?"

"So I'd be the first woman you've had in the shower?" She was considering it.

He grinned. "You would be the first," he acknowledged.

"Let's go back to my place," she said, her eyes getting just a shade darker, obvious that she liked this idea.

"I've got a better idea," he said, picking her up in his arms once again and carrying her off the ice while she squealed, this time in delight instead of anger.

Notes

Oh Savannah, not knowing how to keep the past in the past.
