Savannah groaned as her alarm went off. It was 5:00 am, and she wanted nothing more than to stay in bed. But, she knew she needed to get up and get her run in quick before she got ready for work. She wasn't sure what time she had gotten home last night. She had stayed at Tyler's for a while and then had gotten an Uber home after he had fallen asleep on the couch, only waking up when she had Tyler's three dogs licking her face in the middle of the night. She vaguely remembered having a thousand texts from Shea and Alex in their group text but had conveniently not read them the night before.

She grabbed her phone to skim through them now. Both Alex and Shea had been texting her after midnight, and Savannah assumed it was after they'd both had sex and Audrey and Jamie had both gone to bed.

Shea: You're going back to Segs? Wtf?

Alex: Wait. Did Segs take your phone or something?

Alex: Or are you actually with him?

Shea: It's 1 am. Where the hell are you?

The texts continued for another hour or so and then it appeared they both fell asleep, telling Savannah she had better text them in the morning to let them know she was alright. She sent them the obligatory text. I'm fine. I did go to Tyler's. Didn't hook up. I came back home and now going for a run.

She changed into her running shorts and a tank top before grabbing her bluetooth headphones and went off on her run. The majority of mornings, she ran between three and five miles, just to keep in shape. It was her exercise of choice, and it helped her when she had to run for her life, literally, from criminals trying to kill her. Or when she was chasing after criminals. Running always came in handy.

Her mind drifted like it normally did on runs. But, she was surprised when it went to Tyler Seguin. She had surprisingly had a good time last night at his place, even if he had hit on her a few times. She knew it was because he still had a thing for Shea and he couldn't tell the two of them apart. She was surprised he hadn't accidentally called her Shea yet, though she knew it was bound to happen eventually.

She had stayed late talking to him, and he even seemed interested when she talked about her job, not that she gave too many details. Usually when guys found out what all she did on an everyday basis, they became uninterested in her finding out just how aggressive she was in her job. It took a certain personality to be so high up in the DEA, and Savannah was one of the few women in the field.

She had to admit, she found his tattoos sexy. She'd never say that out loud, though. She'd always been into guys with tattoos, and the fact that he had them all up and down his arms, it'd been a real turn on.

She continued to think about him the rest of her run as she circled back to her apartment. She got back just before 6:00 am and turned on the shower. She checked her phone, finding no new texts, and she shrugged, getting into the shower.

She let the hot water run over her body longer than she normally did. She thought about getting herself off, but decided against it. Maybe she'd do that later tonight. She really did need some sex.

She got out of the shower a while later, wrapping a towel around herself. She walked into her bedroom to get dressed when her phone lit up with a text. She wondered if it was going to be Shea or Alex that woke up first, and she was surprised to see it was Tyler that had texted her. I know you don't need me to check up on you, but just want to make sure you made it home. Woke up and you weren't here. Not sure when you left…

She couldn't even be mad at him for checking in. She hadn't left any indication that she was leaving, not that she needed to. She quickly texted him back. I'm back home. Left after you fell asleep on me…guess I was too boring for you.

It wasn't even a minute later he sent her a response. Not boring, I was just tired. Sorry about that! I've got a game tonight and then I'm on the road for a week. When I get back, maybe I can make it up to you?

She didn't respond, instead throwing her phone on the bed and getting ready for work. She figured she'd text him back later. She threw on black pants with a nice shirt and grabbed her heels from her closet. She glanced at the clock to see it wasn't even 7:00 am yet. She had plenty of time to do her hair and makeup and get to work before anyone else was there. She loved getting work done before anyone else showed up. The peace and quiet always made it easier to get stuff done.

She walked into work, looking at her phone. She really should text Tyler back. She frowned, thinking for a minute about what she would say. She wasn't sure if he was asking her out on a date or just a drink with a friend like last night. We can go to the bar again and see if you don't get mobbed by girls.

She didn't get a reply from him but instead an influx of texts from the girls.

Alex: We need details. You can't just say you went to Segs and not give us details.

Shea: You think they actually had sex?

Alex: Well Segs is after her….

Savannah: Stop. We didn't have sex. I literally had a drink there.

Shea: You had a drink at his house? That's all?

Savannah: Yes. Because we tried to go to the bar and he was getting mobbed.

Savannah: And don't give me that tone. You both ditched me for sex.

Alex: Hey, I don't think there's anything wrong if you want to get a drink with Segs. Or sleep with him. Whatever floats your boat.

Savannah: I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH HIM!!

Shea: But you wanted to!

Savannah: He's into you, Shea, remember?

Shea: Last time I saw him, he was into you!

Savannah: Oh stop. I'm stopping texting now. I'm at work. Talk to you later!

She started to put her phone away when she saw another text pop up, this time from Tyler. Haha if I get your cockblocking action, then we're good!

She rolled her eyes, but didn't respond. She threw her phone back in her bag, needing to focus on work. She was still playing catch up on the case they were currently on. Dominic and Liam had clued her in a lot yesterday during their three hour prep meeting. And, they were meeting again this morning, but she wanted to read up on the criminal background herself.

So, she grabbed the piles of papers that were sitting on the corner of her desk and put them in front of her, opening up the first file to read all about the criminal history of drug dealer Bartholomew Givens. He was in his early forties and using his son, Bartholomew Jr., as his second in command. The DEA had been after them for over two years. Bartholomew and Junior had been getting cocaine from Mexico and bringing it across the border, selling it in the Dallas and Austin area. Savannah wondered how they hadn't been caught before. The two of them seemed like complete idiots.

She was interrupted in her studies by Liam, who walked into her office. "Doing some research?" he asked when he noticed the files on her desk.

She nodded her head. "The more I know, the better off we are. Anything new on your end?"

He slid a new folder in front of her. "Junior's sister. Odessa. She called in to the station yesterday." Savannah glanced down at her picture. From what she'd read so far, Odessa wasn't a part of the drug ring, but that didn't mean her call was legitimate.

"Do you believe her?"

Liam shrugged his shoulders. "It panned out. I guess we'll see when we go in," he told her.

Savannah nodded her head, keeping the new file, deciding she'd add learning all about Odessa's past to her list of things she needed to know before their next round of trying to capture the criminals. "Dom will be here in fifteen. Want to meet in his office?"

"Yeah, I'll be there," Savannah assured him, and Liam left. She put her fingers on her temple, massaging lightly. There was so much to learn before Friday. She knew she'd be spending more time reading these files than anything else in the upcoming days.

Time flew by as she got engrossed in her studies after the meeting with Dominic and Liam. Dominic seemed to trust her to interview Odessa, which made her happy. She had gotten a hold of her after lunch and agreed to meet her an hour later.

Odessa had been different than what Savannah had expected. Her hair was dyed a bright red and she was wearing a tight fitting dress when she walked into the station. Still, Savannah interviewed her like she would anyone else, and ended up frustrated by the end. Odessa had changed her answers every time Savannah would ask her the same question in a different way. They couldn't trust anything the woman said. Plus, she probably was going back to Bartholomew and Junior to tell them she had tried to throw the detectives off.

Savannah sat back in her chair, groaning. She grabbed her phone for the first time today. She had seen the group text was long, and she didn't read it all, but she did catch the part where Shea said she needed to see both Savannah and Alex that evening. Savannah responded, saying she'd be done in probably an hour and then would stop by Shea's place.

She was surprised when she saw she had two missed texts from Tyler. The first was a picture of a bra with Tyler asking "Did you leave this here?" She rolled her eyes before reading the second one. Just had Benn ask me if I drugged you to get you back to my place. Wtf did you say in that group text?

Savannah sent two quick texts.

Not mine. Ask one of the whores you slept with there…if you can remember them.

And I didn't say anything. You're the one who texted the group text that I was going to your place, remember?

She was just about to put her phone away when she got a text back from Tyler. You're just jealous that you're not one of them that I've slept with!

She almost didn't respond, but her fingers were already typing away. Not a chance.

This time she did put her phone away, needing to finish up her work before going to Shea's. She didn't know what was going on, but it must be important if Shea was gathering them together.

It was over an hour before she got out of work. She didn't even check her phone or send them a text saying she was on her way. Instead, she grabbed her bag and ran out of the office as quick as she could. She decided not to even go home and get changed. She could always change into something of Shea's when she got there.

Her heels clicked on the sidewalk as she walked up to the stairs of Shea's apartment. She buzzed her apartment and was immediately let in. "Sorry I'm late, got caught up at work!" she said, putting her purse down on the chair and immediately taking her heels off.

"I figured you were with Segs," Shea joked
.
"Doesn't he have a game tonight?" Savannah asked, vaguely remembering him saying something about it in a text earlier. Or maybe he'd mentioned it last night. She wasn't sure.

Shea gave her a look. "You know his schedule?" she questioned.

"Oh shut up. What did you call us here for?" she asked. "And where's Alex?" she looked around, suddenly realizing the other part of their trio wasn't there. "And Audrey for that matter?"

"Audrey's at work, and Alex is in the bathroom," Shea answered.

"I'm right here," Alex announced as she walked into the living room from the hallway. "And Shea refused to tell me what's going on until you get here. Were you with Segs?"

"What the hell is with you two and him?" Savannah questioned. "No, I'm not with him. I was at work, thank you very much."

Alex held her hands up in defense. "Calm down, Van. We support you and Tyler."

"There is no me and Tyler," she said with certainty, leaving no room for argument. She turned to look at her sister. "What's going on?"

A smile spread across Shea's face. "I'm going to ask Audrey to marry me." She turned around, digging through her bag and pulling out a ring box.

Savannah's eyes went wide with excitement as she reached for the box. "Oh my god! Let me see!" she exclaimed. She knew that Shea and Audrey were serious, but she hadn't expected her sister to get a ring and propose. But, she was thrilled for her. She opened the box, seeing a gorgeous diamond ring inside. "Ahhh, she's going to be so excited! When are you going to do it?"

Alex reached over and grabbed the box to get a look at the ring herself. "Next Friday. We're going away for the weekend, I think it's the perfect time," Shea told them.

"Oh my God, we need to know everything afterward!" Alex exclaimed. "I'm so happy for you!"

"I'm nervous," Shea admitted with a giggle.

"You shouldn't be! Audrey loves you so much," Savannah told her. She'd watched their relationship grow over the last year and a half, and she'd never seen two people more in love. "I'm happy for you," she said, leaning over and hugging her sister from the side.

Shea was grinning. "Thanks," she told her. "Now, back to you and Segs!" she changed subjects.

"There is no me and him," Savannah said. "If you want to talk about another couple, talk about Alex and Jamie," she said, turning the attention to her other friend. She was sick of them thinking she was dating Tyler or into Tyler or whatever. Yeah, he was attractive. But, he also was the typical playboy, and she wasn't about that. He could be her drinking buddy when her friends were with their significant others, but that's about all he'd ever be.
