Tyler rolled over in the hotel bed. He'd determined three hours ago that the hotel they were staying at in Detroit was the worst one he'd ever been in. He couldn't sleep. But then again, maybe that was because he'd been thinking about Savannah.

They'd texted back and forth a few times since he left for the midwest road trip. She'd been busy with work. She told him they were going after the drug dealers again the next night. He'd never admit it out loud, but he was worried for her. She'd been shot at once, and there was no reason to believe she wouldn't be shot at again.

Two weeks ago, he hadn't known she existed, and now he found himself tossing and turning at night, worried about her safety. "Fuck," he said aloud, rubbing his hands over his face. He turned his head to the other bed in the room, seeing Jamie passed out still. He clearly didn't have troubles falling asleep. Tyler still was going to blame the bed and not the woman on his mind for his issues sleeping.

He kept turning over, thinking he'd magically find a comfortable position that would allow him to get some shut eye, but he was disappointed. "Will you stop fucking moving over there," he heard Jamie complain.

"Sorry," Tyler mumbled, staying flat on his back, looking up at the ceiling. He knew he wasn't going to get any sleep so he decided to grab his phone and play a game of Spider Solitaire until his alarm went off an hour later.

He was still playing his game when Jamie's alarm went off. The captain grumbled as he turned it off. He turned over and looked at Tyler, who was sitting up, wide awake, playing with his phone. "What was going on with you last night? Couldn't sleep? You nervous about the game or something?"

Tyler muttered, "Something like that." He knew Jamie wasn't going to believe him. Tyler didn't get nervous about games. But, he was grateful when Jamie didn't question him further.

Tyler got up to get in the shower first. They had a pre-game skate this morning at the arena. He'd take another shower after that. But, he always took two showers the day of games. He got out, throwing on some clothes, getting ready to go to team breakfast. "You gonna tell me what's going on or am I gonna have to call Alex and ask her?" Jamie asked, raising an eyebrow at his teammate.

Tyler looked at him confused. "What does Alex have to do with this?"

Jamie laughed. "I figured it had to do with Savannah." Tyler looked up at the mention of her name. "And, there I just got my answer. You were the same way when you first were into Shea. Distracted because of the girl. At least it's not affecting your game."

Tyler shook his head. Jamie was right, he had been distracted by Shea, and now he was distracted by Savannah. But it was different this time. He just couldn't explain it. "You've got it bad for those Decker girls," Jamie laughed.

"Must be the challenge," Tyler smiled.

"Well I can ask Alex what Savannah thinks," Jamie offered.

"Nah, maybe I'll text her later or something," Tyler shrugged. "Let's just go to breakfast."
Jamie nodded his head, following Tyler's lead out the hotel room door and down the hallway towards the elevator.

Tyler tried to keep his head focused on the task at hand throughout the day. They were playing the Detroit Red Wings, and the Stars needed the win to stay in the front of the pack of their conference. He had a pretty decent morning skate and then went about his normal game day rituals, even surprising himself when he was able to get in a much needed two hour nap.

He let his mind drift away from Savannah for the game. He had been thinking about her leading up to the game. Today was the day she was supposed to be going after the drug dealers again. Surely if something had happened, he'd find out, right? Even if he didn't hear it directly, Alex was bound to tell Jamie, who would feel obligated to tell Tyler. At least that's what Tyler told himself so he didn't go crazy.

He walked into the locker room after getting off the bus, stripping himself from the suit jacket he was wearing. He turned around, seeing Jamie at his locker. "Alex say anything today?" he asked him, trying to appear as if he were striking up a casual conversation, but knowing it sounded anything but that.

"Uh, she said a lot…?" Jamie replied, confused by the question. Then, he saw the look on Tyler's face and it clicked. "Nothing about her," he said. He could have called out Tyler's crush in front of the whole team, but he decided to spare the young man for tonight. Now, if he still acted this way tomorrow night in Chicago, Jamie wouldn't be that nice.

Tyler had told himself he wasn't going to think about her tonight, wasn't going to worry about her. He knew she hated when someone worried about her, but he couldn’t help it. So, he pulled out his phone and sent two texts. The first was to Savannah. Don't hate me. Just checking in, seeing how your day was.

The second text was to Shea. Hey, just wanting to make sure your sister is okay. I know she had a big day at work today.

As soon as he sent the second one, he stowed his phone away again. He wasn't going to look at it again until after the game. He couldn't afford to be focused on texting when they had the Red Wings to play tonight.

By the time he hit the ice, his head was completely in the game. He felt in his element on the ice, winning the first face off for the Stars. The game was one of the more physical games they'd had this year. They shouldn't have been surprised though, as Detroit was known for their physicality.

By the time the third period was halfway over, Tyler was exhausted. He didn't know if it was from all the rough hits he'd taken or the fact that he got hardly any sleep the night before, but he was having a rough time finishing his shifts, and Coach had taken notice, cutting his time on the ice.

"Fuck," he cursed when Detroit scored, increasing their lead to two against Dallas. It didn't matter whose fault it was, Tyler always felt like he should be doing more when his team was losing.

The final seven minutes felt like an eternity. Detroit scored again, and Tyler knew there was no coming back in this game. As they left the ice, Tyler hit the post with his stick in frustration. "Seguin, you're getting interviewed," the team's media person announced, and Tyler groaned. Usually he liked being in the spotlight, but getting interviewed after a loss was one of the worst things in the world to Tyler.

He threw his helmet into his locker and started stripping off his pads. He knew if he didn't shower and change clothes in a hurry, he'd be getting yelled at that the media was waiting. And by delaying the media, it delayed him changing back into his suit and off to the airport to get to Chicago to play tomorrow night.

He took a quick shower and put on the team issued Stars gear before going in front of the cameras. He hated the dumb questions they asked. How did you feel out there? What do you think you could have done better? Are you guys ready for Chicago? You looked awfully tired out there.

He finished the interview and ran a hand through his hair as he walked back into the locker room. "Shrug it off, guys. We gotta focus on Chicago now," he heard Jamie tell the team. There were some mumbles of agreement from the guys, but most were in a pretty shitty mood. And no one was ready to get on a plane to Chicago.

All Tyler wanted was to get to the hotel and get in bed. Maybe he could even catch a few minutes of sleep on the bus or the plane. God knew he needed sleep. He wasn't going to blame the lack of sleep from the night before on his performance tonight, but it definitely contributed to it. Thinking about the night before, it finally dawned on Tyler that he'd never heard back from Savannah. Actually, he'd never checked his phone to see if she had replied to his text from earlier.

He searched his bag for his phone, finally finding it at the bottom under a bunch of clothes. He had a bunch of texts, but one in particular caught his eyes. It was from Savannah. It meant she was fine, and he was surprised by the sense of relief than ran through his body.
His eyes skimmed over the text and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. She hadn't responded at all to his text asking how her day was. Instead, she had texted him something completely off that topic. I've got a proposition for you.

A small smile formed on his lips as he texted back. I'm all ears.

He put his phone back into his bag and followed the rest of the guys onto the team bus for the plane. He couldn't wait to hear about this proposition of hers.

So happy that she's not too hurt. so happy she told him that she needed him. he needs her too. it was huge that she admitted she needed him and for her to cry. and I loved that she called his place home and wanted to go to his house without being asked by tyler. love these two.
