Wake Me Up

Chapter 10

"This is like a dream come true," Hannah exclaimed, as she put in big silver hoop earrings.

While Jackie was getting ready for hockey practice, Hannah was getting ready for the double date.
"Yup, it couldn't get any better then this," Jackie said as she packed her ice skates into her bag. Her team was just a measly three days away from the big tournament that would make or break her chances of getting into the Olympics. What she should be focusing on is hockey, hockey and more hockey. But somehow, she found her mind wandering over to Jonathan.

"This is like one of the fan fictions that I always dreamed would happen to me," Hannah gushed. Jackie rolled her eyes. This was real life. "You and Patrick are to cute for each other." Jackie pulled her long brown hair into a ponytail. "You could say that."

Hannah tore her eyes away from her reflection in the mirror and looked at Jackie. Jackie could feel her icy blue eyes, burning into her chocolate ones.
"Are you being serious right now? You've dreamed of this happening and now all of a sudden your going to get all ungrateful? Other girls would die if they were in your position."
"I know Hannah, I know, and I love Patrick. But now that i think about it, I don't think I want a relationship."
"Well I think you need one so you can stop being so mopey all the time."

"Shut up Hannah, at least I have a career in life," Jackie fired back. The minute she said it, she regretted it. Hannah's perfect features drooped.
"You know how hard I try to get a job."
"Yeah? Well look where it's gotten you in life," Jackie couldn't stop her word vomit as she called it. Hannah's eyes began to water and her lips pulled into a pout. "Jackie, I didn't mean what i said, and i know you didn't mean what you just said either." Jackie didn't have time for her games right now.
"I left an outfit for you when you get back from hockey. I think you'll look fabulous," Hannah said quietly. She then took one last look in the mirror at herself and sauntered out.

Hannah had her hair clipped into a tight bun with a few loose curly strands hanging down by her face. She wore a white cashmere sweater with a heart necklace. Her jeans were skinny and dark washed. She went with an all natural look for the makeup which made brought out her natural beauty. The jeans were tucked into grey knit Uggs. Jackie groaned. Why did Hannah have to be dating Jonathan? Why couldn't she just be dating someone else, like Patrick? But Jackie didn't have time to dwell on this because Patrick had sent her a text, saying he was at her house waiting. She slung her hockey bag on her shoulder and walked out of the house, her ponytail swishing merrily.

"Hey beautiful, you ready?" Patrick asked, grinning as Jackie slipped into the front seat of his luxury car.
"Yeah I am, listen do you mind if you practice with us today? I really want the team to get some new advice." Patrick's eyes twinkled.
"Did you really think I wouldn't want to practice the sport I play for a career? Of course I'll help, besides, I'll get more time to spend with you." Jackie felt the heat rise to her cheeks again.
"Thanks," was all she could manage.

"Okay team, so I have a very special guest for us here, he's going to help us with a lot of things, so listen to him and show him some respect," Jackie ordered her team.
"Who is it?" asked Lori, suspiciously.
"Probably some nobody," Danica snickered.
"So without further ado, I would like you to meet, the one and only Patrick Kane." PAtrick then skated up the ice to the spot where they were, his hair blowing behind him. The girls let out a gasp and even some giggled.
"Hello ladies, as I head from your lovely captain, you are a great team. But she says there are some things you need to work on, so let's get to it!"

Jackie had to admit, he had a way with coaching. He helped everyone with things they needed work on. His blue eyes twinkled when he watched her play. This should be enough to make her like him right? When it was time for a water break, Patrick had a grin on his face. "Your amazing, I've never seen a girl this good."
"Thanks," Jackie breathed, as she gulped down some Gatorade. Patrick then looked right and then left before he muttered,
"You know your teammate Danica?"

"Yeah.''

"She scares me."

As soon as the words rolled off of Patrick's tongue, Jackie spit out all of her Gatorade, and began to laugh until her sides hurt.
"What's so funny?" Maria asked in her tiny voice.

"N-nothing, just a joke," Jackie lied as she began to feel her sides again. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Patrick do his side smirk. God was he gorgeous. He was just the kind of guy Jackie needed in her life. One that made her laugh, one that would watch hockey movies with her. A guy that would be there for her no matter what. A guy that had a smile that lit up the whole room.

But he wasn't Jonathan Toews.

As practice resumed, they went into a scrimmage game. "Now we are allowed to check, but I don't want any of us getting to rough when it comes time for a game," Jackie announced. "Whatever, it's not like any of you pansies can check anyway," Danica snorted. Jackie tried to ignore her. "Right well, let's get it on." The rest of the practice went on smoothly. Jackie couldn't help but feel like she had to show off just a tad bit. Whenever she got the puck she would either make an incredible pass or take a huge slap shot that would go right past Maria's glove. Patrick was on the other team and she could just tell that he was impressed. There's one thing that Jackie wanted to do though, and that was check Patrick fucking Kane.

He had just gotten the puck passed to him and he was off. He went along to boards at top speed. Born to skate, Jackie kept up with him. She could feel her body longing to just crash into Patrick and cause him to fall. So she did what she did. She put her right shoulder down and smashed into Patrick. He was caught off guard and landed with a thud on the ice. Jackie grinned. Success. But as she tried to pull away, she felt an arm grab her leg and she was pulled down onto the ice as well.
"You didn't think you would get away that easily, did you?" Patrick's voice drawled. Jackie was trying desperately to get off of him but with his strong, muscular arms, she couldn't. "Why are you trying to run?" he asked, clearly amused. "I want to take the damn puck and score," she muttered, as she fought his grip. "Oh, fiesty, I like it." he said. Without warning, he turned her to face him and he smashed his lips to hers. Their lips molded perfectly together. Jackie was surprised at first, but then she caved in and kissed him back. His lips tasted like Mint gum. When they pulled away to breath, Jackie looked into his eyes that were sparkling.
"I have been wanting to do that for a long time," he finally said. Jackie giggled. It was probably the most romantic kiss she had ever experienced.
"Ew gross, can you two get up, we have a game to play," Danica said, lightly hitting Patrick on the head with her hockey stick. Jackie looked up, startled. She forgot that she was on the ice, with her whole team, that had just witnessed her kiss Patrick Kane. Patrick shrugged.
"Your just jealous." Danica snarled as she skated away. They untangled their bodies and got up to get ready to resume the game. But all Jackie could think about was how good that kiss was and how she wanted more. But somewhere, deep down, she knew the kiss wasn't from who she wanted it to be from.

aww.. So happy her and her team whipped it out in the championship and that someone was there to stop the a holes at the bar
really great. Loved that she checked Pat. I honestly would love a story where they didn't necessarily play him off as an ass once he gets in a relationship. Everyone makes bad decisions where he is in his life his is just more publicized. Of course I have never met him or would actually know him more than face value so he always could be an A hole.. who knows...

Anyway great story keep it up
Please post soon :) I'm having withdrawal symptoms from not reading your stuff.
