Haunting Hallucinations

Dolphi’s Patients: Two Blackhawks and a Future Hawk (Jaydrien Caffrey)

Nathan’s POV

Val and I received the news about our apparent “poisoning.” I wasn’t shocked, but the poor Russian was stressing out. He had fainted when he had received the news and I had to revive him with the help of the psychologist and other people. But he was still unsure why anyone would poison him. He kept thinking it was Sergei Gonchar and fretting over why his mentor would try to sabotage his career and sophomore year by doing something so low, like poisoning him.

But I knew that it wasn’t Sergei. It couldn’t be. It had to be Jo or Sidney. But why would Sidney do something to us?

That’s when Val told me that he was supposed to be the next Malkin or Ovechkin and then an idea hit me. What if Malkin, Ovechkin or/and Sidney were all jealous of the two of us? What if they were out to cause harm? And what if they had teamed up or something and poisoned us somehow? It was logical and far-fetched but it made the most sense.

As we headed in for our next session, we passed by a familiar pair of hockey players. It was the two Blackhawks: Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. I saw Patrick lean over and peck Jonathan on the lips. A little weirded out, I turned to Val, who was wearing his classic clueless grin and watching the two Blackhawk players. He didn’t seem to mind or think much of the gay relationship.

“Blackhawks!” he exclaimed, pointing.

“Yes. Hi,” I greeted awkwardly.

“Hey!” Jonathan replied, smiling sweetly, as Patrick’s hand glided up and down his arm. “You’re the Nathan MacKinnon guy from Colorado, right?”

“Yup.”

“And you’re the Dallas Star, Valeri Nichushkin.”

Val nodded his head, maintaining his grin.

“Kaner, give the romantic motions a rest. If Dolphi catches us…”

“...I don’t care. I love you too much to care, Jonny!” the blond man stated, reaching up to give a sultry butterfly kiss to his teammate, making him chuckle like a little kid.

“Okay, well have fun…” I said, a bit grossed out by their homosexuality. I wasn’t against gays and gay pride, but I just didn’t like it in public. And it was especially weird with two grown hockey players.

I grabbed Val and we got to the room, seeing another person inside finishing up his session. We waited outside, respectfully and instead just decided to watch the show going on with Jonathan and Patrick. As much as it creeped me out to see what I saw, I had to admit that only Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane could pull off the adorable couple move. If there was a “best bromance in hockey” award, I would, without a doubt, give it to these two.

“Whoa! What the--?” I gasped, as I saw the Chicago captain slam his friend against the wall and begin to devour the younger Blackhawk’s mouth.

“Oh, Jonny!” the blond moaned.

“Shush, shush, don’t speak, Peeksy.”

They made out, not seeming to care where they were.

“I love you so much!” the blond spoke again.

I couldn’t help but smile. I noticed Val was watching with keen curiosity and still wearing his “awkward” expression, but it had a tremendous amount of “awe shucks” in it. To be honest, it was kind of sweet seeing them madly in love with one another. (Dare I say that I would “ship” these two as a couple.)

Suddenly, however, a voice barked, “Jonathan, Patrick, knock it off! Do you want Chicago to know your secret love for one another?!” The two broke apart at once, looking quite ashamed and a little peeved. I spun to see that the psychologist had come to her doorway and was peering out at them. She had a scolding look on her face.

Behind her, the other patient sat, avoiding eye contact. He looked nervous. He was wearing a nice dressy white shirt, which he was working to fix. I saw a few of his buttons were unbuttoned. Oh, and his tie was askew on him. Either he had to hurry from somewhere or...something else was happening.

“Yes, bitch!” Patrick snapped back, caressing his friend’s cheek in a romantic way.

She stomped out of her office and walked up to him. She smacked him across the face and then roughly grabbed his collar and pulled him down to her face. She pressed her lips into his and began to make out with him. Then she did the same thing with Jonathan.

“Do I make myself clear, boys?”

“Yes, Dolphi. We’ll behave,” they both said in unison, as though in a trance.

She grinned, knowingly. Then she did something that made me feel a little uncomfortable and begin to question what was really going on here. The psychologist patted both men in farewell...but not on the back or shoulder...rather below the belt so to say. She touched them both inappropriately and leaned forward, whispering something to both of them, before they both nodded and walked off. They appeared awkward, but seemed to act more like friends instead of...lovers?

The woman spun on her heels, sent me and Val a wink and walked briskly back into her office. “I’ll be with you two hotties in a sec. I need to finish up with Jay here.”

Weird? She had called us “hotties,” what was going on here? Something was definitely off. Dolphiana Caffrey had seemed like such a professional psychologist when they had first met, but now...she was being unprofessional and flirting with her patients. And after seeing her manhandle the Blackhawk Lovers, I began to think that maybe the “Jay” guy hadn’t been running late.

After a few minutes, the door opened once more and the man named Jay rushed out. His shirt was unbuttoned down the middle and his pants were draped over his arm.

And suddenly, I didn’t really want to see the psychologist…

“Hi,” I awkwardly said.

He flashed a quick look at me and then scampered off.

Before either of us could move to leave, she grabbed our wrists and yanked us into her “office.” Then she closed the door and locked it. Fantastic! Today was going to be “fun”...for her!

“What’s going on here?” Val squeaked.

Dolphi shoved me onto the couch and took the perplexed Russian’s hand into her own. She led him to her desk and then shoved him backward. He fell back on his arms, doing an awkward backbend. I remained on the couch, curious, but also highly afraid. I didn’t exactly plan on losing my virginity to some hot psychologist with a lioness hair do and spunky personality.

“It’s time to start your therapy session!” she exclaimed, with a giggle, lightly putting her hand on top of the collar of Val’s loose blue dress shirt.

“What are you going to do to him? Have sex? How is that therapy?” I questioned, feeling my mouth run dry. The hallucinations and Sidney Crosby visits may have gone, but I wasn’t sure about being violated and forced to have sex for the pleasure of a twisted woman.

“Silly MacKinnon, no, not sex. I don’t believe in hurting men like that...no, I like to refer to it more like Therapedic Rape!”

“How is that any better?”

“It helps my patients! The Blackhawks - Jonathan and Patrick - I’m helping them out with their homosexuality. They have feelings for one another and that’s not allowed, so their coach, dear snowy-haired Coach Q, called me up and told me to “fix” ‘em. So I have!”

“With sex?”

“With Therapedic Rape!” she corrected, grinning.

“Isn’t this illegal and unprofessional?”

“Only if you see it that way, sweetie. Now, Nathan, darling, I’m going to teach you both my methods for learning to cope with problems okay. By the end of the day’s session, I think you’ll find me rather irresistible. Jaydrien does. He’s my favorite client and he loves me!”

“He was terrified!”

“He’s shy, but I’m helping him with that!”

“He didn’t seem to like it.”

“He does like it. But he’s just shy around other people and players.”

“That’s not how I saw it!”

“It is! Trust me, once he warms up to you, he’ll tell you how much I rock his world!”

“What if I don’t want you to “rock my world,” cause your a fucking whore?”

“Too bad, Nathan. You can’t escape me and if you try to, I will stop you and punish you...just look at what happened with my Chicago Lovers...they know not to misbehave in public. And I’m not a whore, I’m a clinical psychologist.”

“With fake certificates, I’m sure.”

“Oh no, they are quite real, I assure you. Now, enough boring pretense. I’d love to sink my teeth into this Russian!”

With that she launched into her “session.”

Notes

Uh...yeah...this story took another turn...only this time in the wrong direction. I'm sorry, but not sorry. Haha, Kazer scene! :P
"I don't care. I love you too much to care, Jonny!" - If only he WOULD reveal this truthful statement, all us Chicago fans know its true... :D

Next up: Oh boy, Tyler....Tyler just can't seem to stay out of trouble and stay safe...he gets tied up by Jo! (Man, I made Jo super evil...)

I get what you mean, and it isn't harsh. Not at all. I like this feedback. I'd rather receive this type of "feedback" then none. I like it when people point something out that I need to change. ;) Thank you and I went ahead and changed it a little, so feel free to check it out and see if it works now. I didn't like Landy jumping to the conclusion of Jo, so I instead tweaked the conversation. See if it works? :P
Iggy doing drugs is Jo's "excuse".

@EvelynaKitty
Well, I said that because it can be like the first thing and the reader can be like confused at what was happening, but then when they read that Jo is mad at Nathan and Nathan and Val find out why they are hallucinating, then the reader can be like, "OHHH!!! That's was what the beginning was about! Jo being evil! I get it!" But if you don't want to do that (which I totally understand why), you can not let Nathan and Val know why they are hallucinating until like after they are done with their therapy sessions. It just doesn't make sense for them to just all of a sudden find out right after that scene of Jo being evil and then they just randomly go to a mental hospital place because they've been practically drugged. They should go to that place because they think that they have mental issues--they shouldn't be going there if they know that it's not their fault that they have hallucinations, it's just the drug's fault. And the hallucinations should've worn off if they only drank the water with the drug by now...
Sorry if this sounds harsh :P Just trying to help you out! :)
But what would be the purpose of Iggy taking drugs?

@A Shruinger
Well, why do you think that it would make more sense to have it be at the beginning of the story? And I get what you mean about them finding out though...but I'm not quite sure how else to do that part? I did re-read it and I am currently trying to fix the "quickness" or it. I don't like it, but what about Iggy doing drugs?? :P

Wow, I would've knew had guessed that Jo was the reason why they were having hallucinations. But I think that for suspense that you should've put Jo's part of him being evil at the WAAAY beginning of this story. It seemed like Jo's part and the figuring out of the reason behind the hallucinations was just way too easy for the characters and that they should've figure out the reason behind the hallucinations after they go to the mental hospital thing... Just my thoughts, so yea :) But nice reason why they were having hallucinations ;)
