Project Blackhawk (or The Blackhawk Experiment)

Finding Patrick Kane

Dave Bolland, Andrew Shaw, Brandon Bollig, and Jonathan Toews all stood, staring up in horror at a large golden idol statue of Chris Pronger. Behind it, was a glorified city for Pronger that looked like any number of evil villains who succeeded in capturing a city and taking over. They turned to share a look, all worried and skeptical.

“What happened to Philly?” Jonathan asked. “This isn’t Philadelphia...it’s hell!”

“I’ll attest to that Captain!” Andrew exclaimed.

“Well, if we’re going to find Kaner, this is our place,” Dave remarked. “I mean, how bad could it be?” He started forward, before Brandon halted him.

“Don’t ever say that, Dave, something bad always happens…”

“Like what?”

Suddenly a booming voice came on some intercom thing and echoed throughout the city. “Good afternoon ladies and gents, I hope you are ready to see my fabulous Flyers absolutely rip apart Colorado Avalanche players and little baby Blackhawks tonight! As you all know, I have a fierce ‘No Jonathan Toews’ policy. If he dare be brave enough to step foot in my arena and win, it will be the last thing he sees! That is all. Come and support me, your leader and your number one hockey player to ever grace the Earth!”

Another recorded voice spoke, “This message was approved by Chris Pronger.”

“How about that?” Brandon questioned.

“That bastard! He takes Kaner from me and calls me out, naming me as the villain!” Jonathan gasped. “What is this because of? Did I do something to him?”

“This is about Kaner winning the Stanley Cup against his Flyers. It’s about you being the leader of that team,” Dave explained.

“So, now what? We can’t just stroll through the streets with Jonny, he’ll stick out like a sore thumb and it’s dangerous!” Andrew pointed out.

“That’s true. But how can we sneak around and get to the arena where Pronger is?”

“And can I take this stupid Colorado jersey off?” Jonathan suggested. “I am feeling REALLY uncomfortable with it on!”

Before anyone could do anything, Jonathan was grabbed by two bulky men, a bag placed over his head. The brunette man fought with the hold. “Shawzy!! Help!!” he screamed, as he was dragged back toward a black Flyer’s fan van.

“JONNY!” Andrew yelled and darted forward, with Dave and Brandon on his heels.

Jonathan was hauled into the side of the car and then trapped inside. The vehicle launched off with the trio darting after it.

“This is no longer a hockey story about time travel and the Butterfly Effect guys, this is about revenge! Pronger will kill him and then we won’t have a Chicago to save!! After that van!!” Dave howled.

They chased the van, as best as they could, until it vanished around a corner. They still headed toward the arena, guessing that that was the destination. Overhead, clouds rolled in and flashes of lightning lit up the arena’s top ahead of them.

“Come on, we have to get to the arena and save Jonny and Kaner!”

But would it be too late, when they finally arrived?

****

Jonathan was held tightly by one of the men, while the other tied his wrists together behind him. Jonathan struggled and made it difficult for them to hold him, but they eventually won and he could feel the knot being pulled tightly into place, securing his wrists together. He was then sat on the floor of the van and his ankles were bound together. The bag remained on his head.

“What the hell? What’s going on here? Let me go!!” Jonathan grunted, wriggling in place and attempting to get free.

“You put up quite a fight and make things difficult, but Pronger warned us you might…luckily you aren’t too strong of a hockey player.”

“Pronger! What has he done with Kaner?” Jonathan snapped the demand.

“That’s none of your business Jonny Boy!”

“Get this bag off of my head and untie me! I’ll slash his throat with my skate, if he’s hurt my friend!”

“And apparently your lover...Pronger knows everything, sweetheart and he planned to hurt the Blackhawks by breaking apart the Kazer...though it seems, we have new information that Prongs will want to know. It seems you, Jonny Boy, care about Kaner a whole lot and know who he is.”

“And that’s not good, you see.”

“How is it not good that I remember the blond who started his career with me and was by my side...how is that not good? It means that I care about my teammate...me REAL teammate.” Jonathan shuffled his legs, trying to aim for one of the men near him, but the ropes held him in check.

“Pronger doesn’t like you two. We’re taking you to him right now, since you just can’t seem to stay away from Patrick.”

“No!!”

“What are you going to do about it, Jonny?”

The vehicle jerked to a stop and the two men grabbed Jonathan by the arms and dragged him from the car. They headed into the Flyers’ arena and dumped him in a room. They sat him down in a chair and then finally removed the bag from his head. He blinked, as he found himself looking at...Chris Pronger.

He was in some kind of conference room, like where the coaches would meet up to talk or where the coaches would talk to players. His anger consumed him at once and he attempted to get up and move, but he was forced down by the two men. “Pronger! Where’s Kaner? You son of a bitch, let him go!!”

Pronger smirked and got to his feet. “Kaner? Kaner? The Lightning forward who vanished?”

“No! The Blackhawk! You know who I am talking about!”

Pronger stepped forward, menacingly, waving off his two helpers, who exited the room at once. The blond villain circled him. “I know, I know, but I like making you uncomfortable, Jonny. It gives me pleasure.”

“What did Kaner and I do to you? Is this about something I heard about a Stanley Cup Final?” Jonathan questioned.

“Aye, Jonny, but it’s mainly Kaner...he’s the one who dashed my dreams, with that stupid goal. I took the puck, but besides the point, he hurt me...so I’m hurting him!”

“Keep your hands off of him!” Jonathan growled, jerking against the ropes on him.

“Jonny, Jonny, there’s no need to be hostile here, I’m simply getting even with him...the little blond brat! I tried to let you be left alone, but your memory of Patrick is just too strong...it is overwhelming really. You care for him, it’s sweet, but it is deadly.”

Pronger whisked away from him. Jonathan used the time to attempt to work the ropes restraining him. He finally sat back, accepting defeat. There was no hope for him, he had to just accept that Pronger had him. The villain returned to him after a few more agonizing seconds and held a mirror in front of Jonathan. “You see your reflection?”

“Yeah.”

“Look closer.”

“What about it?” Jonathan asked, squinting with an effort to figure out what Pronger was driving at with the mirror.

“Kaner is apart of you!”

His reflection in the mirror suddenly morphed. Half of his face was his, but the other half was Patrick. He blinked. How was this possible?

“Whenever I see you, I see both of you. It’s the same with him. I tried to break you apart...but I guess I just can’t. It’s inevitable, he is you and you are him. Fate ties you both together.”

“And your point is?”

“I must destroy you both.”

“The fuck you will!”

“Yeah, if I wanted to Jonny, I could stab you through the heart or put a bullet in your head and you couldn’t do a thing about it, you know why?”

“Why?” Jonathan forced through gritted teeth.

“Because I have you all tied up.” Pronger took the mirror away and began to cackle evilly. His laughter distorted and twisted into something that wasn’t laughter anymore...Pronger was a madman!

Jonathan struggled in the ropes some more, screaming. “You’re a madman Pronger!! I won’t let you kill Kaner!!”

“Keep telling yourself that, but now that I have you, you’re going to join him! And then I’m going to kill you both. It will bring plenty of joy when I see you forced to kill your best friend!” Pronger snickered.

“No! I’ll NEVER kill Kaner!”

“Ah but you will, now let’s go reunite you two...for the last time,” Pronger crowed, letting out more wicked laughter, as he threw something on the ground.

“NO!!!! HELP!!!!” Red and black electricity surrounded them. Jonathan screamed as he and Pronger vanished.

Only an empty time pad and the chair remained.

It's okay, it took time for me too :P That's how I pictured Sid like when I was in 8th grade (except less violent than your view of Sid), but now I picture him as a 4 year old stuck in a 27 year old's body! XDDDD

Yeah, yeah, my bad, I'm still getting the grasp of that. XP And yeah, but I think in my stories Evil Sid is the alter ego of Sid. But I love Evil Sid, cause he's a great villain, like Pronger and Rinaldo and Avery. ;)

It's bad-good, not good-evil character-- John is a bad-good character! Yes! John is exactly as sly as a fox! Perfect simile for him! :D And Evil Sid and Sid are two complete different people!

I feel like we both think of him like a good-evil. It's how I see Sid too. But with Sid its more Sid and then Evil Sid almost like an alter-ego thing, with Tavy though I think he's more sly...like a fox! Tavy's a fox!! :)

Okay, good! :)
Yes, it's better for John to save them! :D Geez, is it me or does John seem like the type of guy who would work behind the bad guys' back, tricking them, like in Mission how no one knew Tazer was staying with John?
