Battle For the Ice: The Great NHL War

Battle #2: Tyler Seguin vs Zenon Konopka

Tyler Seguin strutted his way into his battle arena setting, which happened to be an abandoned factory in the city of Chicago. He was wearing a short-sleeved purple shirt under a black leather jacket with jeans. He swung his head back and forth and then put his hands on his hips, where he had on a belt with all kinds of various spy gadgets attached. He was the spy for his group of Hockey Heroes...

Suddenly, before he could say anything, he saw a bright flash of red and orange...almost like...fire! He felt something begin to entangle around his arms like a lasso. Using his super fast reflexes, he whipped around and grabbed the chain before it could wrap around him, which vanished from sight once more before he could get a solid grip.

“Come on, is that the best you got?” Tyler taunted.

“You really wanna taunt me, pretty boy?”

“Look, you’re so scared, you can’t even come out of the shadows!” Tyler continued, squinted at the shadows to the side, where the chain had come from.

“Don’t push things Spy Boy, I can make hell for you!”

The chain lashed out at Tyler again. He dove to the side and rolled over, reaching to his belt for two pucks. He threw them into the shadows and smirked as he saw the lightning zapping from it. Then the lightning stopped flashing, flickered and went out. Someone had stomped on them and they did little harm. Tyler cussed. Luckily he had more of them, so it wasn’t too bad.

“Really? I got more of those!”

“So do I! You’re fighting fire with fire, Seggy!” the deep voice sneered.

“Come out from the shadows!”

“Once you give up and succumb to my fire chain!”

“Never!”

“Then, get ready for a long ass battle, sweetheart!”

“I look fo--ah!” The chain came out at him again from the shadows and this time wrapped around his leg. Tyler screamed and crashed to the ground. It was hot and he could feel the heat through his jeans. He kicked and struggled to get it off and it finally did stop burning him, probably controlled to stop. Something landed behind his head and he gasped again, as he felt himself lose consciousness. Great. Not again.

Tyler blinked awake and glanced up, finding himself under a bright light. His lip felt numb and his head hurt...a wicked headache consumed him. He looked down and found himself tied down to a wooden chair. His arms were tied to the back sides of it. He tried to give a few jerks, but grunted with the failed effort.

Then the memory of the battle flooded back to him and he snapped his head up to look ahead of him. He saw the black outline of a figure leaning against a pipeline.

“Tyler Seguin, it’s a treat…”

Tyler spat to the side of him. “Really, you’re sinking so low that you have to conceal your true identity and you have to tie me up?”

“I didn’t want to, pretty boy but you gave me no choice.”

Tyler stomped his foot on the ground. “Show yourself coward!”

The figure finally lashed out, darting from the shadows. He grabbed Tyler’s hair in his fingers and wrenched his head backward. “You’re quite mouthy, pretty boy.”

“Yeah, and who are you?”

“I’m Zenon Konopka!” the man snarled and let go of Tyler’s head, stepping back and opening his arms up.

Tyler made the mistake of looking down and taking his appearance in. He literally almost threw up in his mouth. What followed was a loud, “Ewwww!!” that echoed off the walls of the building. “Are you kidding me?!” Tyler snapped, his voice cracking. “That so doesn’t go! Gosh, I can’t take this! Let me out of these ropes right NOW!! I have to...oh God!” He craned his neck to the side, squeezing his eyes shut. “That’s so wrong!”

Zenon had on a dark blue vertical-striped shirt with aqua horizontal-striped pants. He wore black army boots and a belt to keep his own gadgets in. He had his fire chain draped around his neck like a scarf or like he was cosplaying Ghost Rider. He was a fashion disaster! Tyler hung his head to the side, moaning and groaning.

“Oh man up, Fashionista! For God’s sakes I’m a villain, I’m supposed to look like a mess!”

“That’s no excuse! What are you wearing? Just--Just untie me for a second, so I can make you look better and then you can tie me back up...but just let me help you out with your fashion!!” Tyler pleaded.

“Uh, not a chance. And if this is going to be your weakness...well, that’s great for me!” Zenon sneered. He walked to the side and picked up a pair of plyers from a table he’d set up. “Tell me Tyler, why did you of all people become a spy?”

“Bite me!” Tyler growled.

“You’re pathetic Seguin, you know that? You can’t make it more than fifteen minutes into a fight, before your opponent - such as myself - bests you. You always end up tied to a chair...worthless and weak...” Zenon walked forward to Tyler and grabbed his head tilting it back up. “That’s what you are, Tyler, pathetically weak.” He raised the plyers up in his hand and prepared to torture the brunette Dallas Star, but Tyler mustered his courage.

Tyler snapped his eyes shut and kicked out, connecting with and knocking Zenon to the side.

“Oh, so we’re going to do this the hard way, huh?” Zenon snarled and scrambled to his feet.

Tyler stood up and swung around, still tied to the chair and hit Zenon as he came back at him. One of the legs pelted him in the stomach and sent him sprawling back down to the ground. Then Tyler spotted the wall to the side and darted over to it. He mentally prepared for the pain and moved his hands in a way that they didn’t take the brunt of the impact as he slammed the chair against it. It broke into millions of pieces and he spun to the side unscathed and also unbound. He was free. He landed on the ground with one hand on the ground like a classic hero pose. He snapped his head up and spotted Zenon glaring at him in shock.

“I said, bite me!” Tyler growled, choking back his disgust for Zenon’s look. He stood up and raised his hands up in front of him and shot rainbow energy at Zenon. It blasted him, consuming him. He yowled and suddenly his outfit changed to a simple white shirt and black pants.

“What the hell?” the Buffalo Sabre complained.

“Much better!” Tyler exclaimed, lifting his hand up and blowing on it, like a birthday candle. “Now, you’re tolerable enough for a fight!”

Zenon was beside himself, he grabbed the fire chain (which wasn't on fire at the moment and just a regular chain) from around his neck and whipped it out at Tyler. It lassoed around his wrists. Zenon yanked him forward. Tyler stumbled on his legs, but he was kept up on his feet as the villain tossed the other end up and over a metal bar. He yanked the end down, so Tyler’s arms lifted up over his head.

“REALLY?!” Tyler thundered, as he tried to snatch the chain in his fingers and work from there. It was incredibly difficult, but he managed to finally get a good grip on the chain and he swung out, using it like a tree vine. He wrapped his leg around Zenon’s neck, but the villain wasn’t buying his physical combat skills.

Zenon grabbed Tyler’s leg and flung it to the side. “Stop kicking me!!”

“Then stop tying me up!!” Tyler spat at him and kicked out again. He gave a sharp tug on the chain and managed to unloop it from the bar/rafter. He whipped it back at Zenon, getting his arm wrapped in his own chain. They both furiously pulled at the tough fire coated metal.

“Now look at what you’ve done Seguin!” Zenon snapped.

“Me? Oh no, I didn’t do a thing! This is all you!”

Zenon spun his arm in a circle and wrapped the chain around Tyler’s upper arms now, pinning them in place.

“Is it all me?”

Zenon spun around Tyler and lashed him with the fire chain now, but Tyler jumped up and kicked at him. He managed to jump onto his back and wrap his legs around the villain’s neck. But Zenon easily flung him off of him and to the ground.

“Would you make this fair for me?! Get this chain off of me!”

“Why? It’s a good look for you! If you’re so into fashion...then you should keep it on.”

“Yeah...I’m really going for the, “chained up” look!” Tyler spat sarcastically. “Get it off!”

Zenon finally unwrapped the chain from Tyler’s arms and freed him, but the metal link remained wrapped around Tyler’s wrists and Zenon’s one arm. They launched into a long duel, which was almost like a choreographed dance routine. They were naturally even matched, with Zenon having the slight upper hand in strength however.

At one point, Tyler had somehow miraculously pinned Zenon to the ground, but it was short lived.

In the end, Zenon finally yanked Tyler toward him, accidentally freeing him from the chains. Zenon kept the chain around his arm but lifted it upward and flicked it into the air. It turned into a mace, which he swung at Tyler. The Dallas Star dodge the swing and swung his leg out, tripping up Zenon, who crashed to the ground with a thud.

"Give up yet?" Tyler questioned.

“NEVER!!” Zenon screamed and made his chain morph into a whip, which he lashed at Tyler, who darted back and forth, smiling and seemingly unfazed. He got too cocky though and Zenon cracked him with the whip, knocking him unconscious once more.

Tyler fell to the ground. Zenon darted forward and grabbed Tyler by his collar. He shook his head and dragged Tyler over to another chair. His weapon returned to being a fire chain once more. This time he sat him in the chair and wrapped the chain back around him. He also handcuffed Tyler’s wrists together behind him and then made sure to tie down his ankles. Then he brought his hand across Tyler’s face with a powerful slap.

The Dallas Star forward jerked awake and instantly discovered that he was - once again - tied down to a chair. “Dang it Zenon, you’re really--holy sh--!”

Zenon was once more dressed in his original - gross - outfit. He had his arms folded about him. “Face it Tyler, in a match against me, you can never win!”

“Ugh! That’s so atrocious!! I can’t look at you...CHEATER!! You don’t know who you are messing with pal, don’t tick me off more...and you think your stupid chain, a pair of handcuffs and ankle rope restraints are going to keep me down?” Tyler worked at the new bondage, grunting with the effort, while Zenon looked on highly amused. “Do you mind?”

“Mind what? Watching you struggle in vain? Yes. It amuses me.”

Suddenly a phone went off. Tyler rolled his eyes. He seemed to recognize who it was calling him. Zenon stepped forward, halting in his evil laughter and snatched Tyler’s phone from his pocket. He answered the device.

“Hello?”

“Zenon Konopka?” a voice questioned.

“Yeah. Who’s this?”

“Jamie Benn. Listen, put my best friend on the phone right now or so help me, I’ll find a way to come over there and make you!” the person on the other end snapped.

Zenon was a little intimidated and he put the phone between Tyler’s ear and shoulder. "You got a five minutes to talk!" Tyler glared at him through dark brown eyes.

“What are you doing Tyler? I need your help!”

“Are you kidding? I’m working Jamie.”

“This takes precedence...besides - knowing you - how are you not finished with your battle by now. Come on Seggy, I need you...my ring died...!”

“Again, Jamie?? I’m in the middle of an interrogation right now. This moron is giving me everything.”

Zenon murmured to himself, annoyed, “I don’t….give everything.”

“Look, you can’t pull me out of this right now Jamie!”

“Come on.”

“Ask Val or something.”

“Look, if it was any other time and something that that archer could do, I’d gladly ask him, but I need...a healer!”

“So ask Patrick Kane.”

“I can’t. Tyler, please!”

“Jamie!”

“Tyler!”

“Ugh, fine, let me put you on hold...I gotta get out of some fire chain, handcuffs and ropes, but I’ll be over there.”

“Good, do it fast.”

Tyler focused his energy and kicked out, snapping the ropes from his ankles. Then he managed to snap the handcuffs and finally got to his feet, with just the chain wrapped around him. “Do I really have to smash another chair, Zenon?”

But the villain was no long standing before him. Tyler made to look around, but suddenly he was grabbed around the head and forced back down. Zenon held him down and he flailed about.

“Sorry Jamie, Tyler’s a little tied up at the moment, he’ll have to call you back!” Zenon snickered into the speaker and hung up.

Tyler screamed and fought against the chain around him. “Are you kidding me??”

“No, sweetheart, you don’t have to break another chair...and you can’t escape my chain, cause guess what--?”

“What?!” Tyler growled through gritted teeth.

Zenon just snickered. Tyler felt something sharp and hot burn his skin. It was the chains and they were searing his skin. Zenon was beyond being nice and letting him off easy now. Tyler gasped with shock, as the heat burned him, like he was a cow being branded. The villain continued to cackle evilly.

“Stop!! Zenon!!” Tyler screamed.

“Seems like you’ve met your match, pretty boy!” Zenon sneered, as he ruffled Tyler’s hair with his fingers and draped his arms around the young forward’s head.

“Zenon, let me go! Come on, man!! I gotta help Jamie out!!”

“Shoulda had ice powers like Gabriel.”

“ZENON!!”

Notes

Oh, I don't know if I gave Tyler enough of an upper hand in this...but I feel like Zenon would win with his fire chain...sorry Tyler. But how about Tyler's badassness! Come on, I can totally see Seggy tied to a chair and being a badass and then breaking it and getting free! Haha.
Hey look, Jamie needs Tyler for once! :P
Am I trying too hard to cover up my "Tyler is a girl" thing????
I probably am, sorry.
So, yeah, don't forget to leave a comment for the next battle scene... :)
