Tyler was pissed at himself. He didn't know why he had been acting this way with Savannah, but he was regretting it. He hadn't talked to her since she walked out on him the night before last. He had made a show out of ignoring her when he had seen her at Jamie's the day before, and he resisted the urge to text her the past thirty-six hours. Now he knew it was too late to text her. She was already on her way to catch the criminals. And now he just had to wait.

He had been driving around aimlessly for the past hour. He somehow ended up at Jamie's place, not knowing where else to go. He figured he could at least find Alex there and see if Savannah had said anything to her before she had gone out on the chase.

He held his finger on the buzzer for the door until he finally heard Jamie's voice. "I'm going to forgive you for bothering us right now since your girlfriend could possibly be getting herself killed right now," Jamie said half-jokingly. Tyler didn't know what to think of his comment, as he realized that Jamie could be right, and Savannah could be getting hurt right now.

"Jamie, stop!" he heard Alex scold him before the door unlocked and Tyler could go upstairs.

She greeted him at the door, giving him a sympathetic smile. He wondered if she was as worried as he was about Savannah. "Come on in," she said, stepping aside.

He turned his head to look at Alex as he walked past her. "Have you heard anything from her?"

"Not since she went into work," Alex replied. "And we probably won't until she's done. Did you talk to her?"

Tyler shook his head, upset at himself. He ran a hand over his face. "No, I'm an idiot." Nobody tried to argue with him on that point.

"You can tell her that yourself tonight," Jamie told him, sitting down on the couch.

Tyler sat in the chair next to him. "What if…" he trailed off, unable to say the words he was thinking aloud. He saw Jamie glance up at Alex, and Tyler's stomach dropped, realizing it was a real possibility that Savannah didn’t make it out alive today. They had already hurt her by driving her off the road, these guys weren't messing around.

"She'll be fine," Jamie assured him. Tyler eyed him, not really believing him. Jamie looked up at his girlfriend, and Tyler followed suit, seeing a look of worry in Alex's eyes, as well. He knew she was just as scared as he was.

Alex inhaled deeply. "She'll be fine," she repeated Jamie's words, though she didn't sound as confident. "Ty, why don't you stay here until we hear from Van? You can talk to her when she's done with everything," Alex suggested.

"We'll go to practice and Alex will call if she hears anything," Jamie told him, reminding Tyler of their practice today. He was glad they didn't have a game because he wouldn't be able to focus at this point. He wasn't entirely sure how he was going to make it through practice, and he knew Coach wouldn't take being worried about his girlfriend as an excuse to miss practice.

Tyler simply nodded his head, putting his elbows on his knees and leaning forward. Alex came up behind him and gently rubbed his back. "She's done this before," she said softly. "It's her job, and she will be okay. She always is." Tyler didn't say anything, as Alex kept a comforting hand on his back.

The three of them stayed in the living room for a while with the television on for background noise, none of them saying anything because no one knew what to say. Jamie was the first to move, getting up to grab his duffle bag for practice. "Let's get coffee on the way," he suggested to Tyler, who went along with the plan because he knew it didn't really matter if he stayed at Jamie's or left at this point. He knew he wasn’t going to hear from Savannah for a while.

The drive to practice was relatively quiet except for the radio playing music. "Dude, you fell hard," Jamie broke the silence.

"I think that's obvious," Tyler mumbled, knowing he couldn't argue that statement. He had fallen harder than he had expected with Savannah. It didn't matter they'd only been on a couple official dates and had only been together for a few weeks, he cared about her like he'd never cared about another woman.

"You better tell her that when she gets home tonight," Jamie continued.

"If she talks to me," Tyler muttered. "She's pretty pissed off at me."

"She's pissed because she likes you, too, and you were the idiot that ignored her."

"I am an idiot," Tyler shook his head.

"At least you admit it," Jamie chuckled as he pulled into the parking lot of the arena. "Just put your worry on hold for practice or you're going to get hurt yourself if you aren't focused," Jamie warned him.

Tyler didn't say anything, but instead just followed Jamie out of his car and into the rink. His mind continued to drift to Savannah while he got changed into his skates and jersey. It was even obvious on the ice that he wasn't fully there, as much as Tyler tried to hide it. But after getting yelled at by Coach for the third time, Jamie skated over to him telling him that he needed to focus on hockey for the next hour or he'd be there an extra two hours doing conditioning for punishment. While Tyler couldn't fully focus on hockey, he did get his act together a little bit better, at least enough that Coach didn't punish him at the end of practice.

Tyler was one of the first ones off the ice, something that wasn't normal, as he usually stayed on the ice a while longer after practice. But he just wanted to take a shower and go back and wait on word from Savannah.

He took a quick shower, and Jamie walked back to his locker after showering himself, while Tyler had already changed into his street clothes. Jamie grabbed his phone, checking his messages. "We're headed to Shea's," he told Tyler. Tyler looked up quickly, hopeful that Savannah was there, but Jamie let him down easy. "She's not there yet," he shook his head. "But, Alex is. So you know Savannah will be headed there first."

"Yeah," Tyler agreed. He impatiently waited as Jamie took forever to get changed before they headed back to Shea's place. He hoped that when they walked in they would have heard from Savannah, but he knew that if they did hear from her, one of them would let him know immediately. They all knew how worried Tyler was for Savannah.

Jamie and Tyler walked in, and Shea just shook her head, answering Tyler's unasked question of if she had heard from Savannah. "How do you feel?" he suddenly asked her.

She looked at him curiously. "What do you mean?"

"Well you're her twin," he said simply. "Don't you have that twin telepathy thing where you feel pain if she does?" He had seen it in movies so it had to be a real thing, right?

"I don't have a terrible feeling, if that's what you're asking. But, I still worry. It's my sister," she told him.

"Why is it okay if you worry about her, but when I do, she bites my head off?"

Audrey walked out with water bottles for everyone, passing them out. She gave Shea the last one, and Shea grabbed her hand, holding it. "Because you worry about her and try to tell her not to do her job," Shea pointed out. "I worry about her and know better than to try to tell her what to do. She's been with me for twenty-nine years, I know what sets her off. And she hates when people try to control her. Jason made that worse," she spoke the name of the man that Tyler hated more than anyone in the world, even though he had never even met him.

Alex could tell that Shea had accidentally hit a nerve with Tyler. "We know you're not trying to control her," she said softly.

"You're a million times better than Jason ever was," Shea agreed. "But, Van still keeps her guard up. Though somehow you've gotten her to lower it a little bit. That's a big feat, especially in the short time you've known her," she told him.

"How many of these missions has she been on?" Tyler asked.

"Enough," Shea answered simply. Tyler didn't inquire anymore, not knowing if he wanted to know the answer. If he was going to continue to date her, he was going to have to figure out how to deal with these kinds of situations. He just didn't know if he could. Granted, he still needed to talk to Savannah and get her to forgive him first. Before that, she needed to finish this plan safely.

Another hour passed, and with each minute, the knot in Tyler's stomach grew bigger. Shea's phone suddenly rang, pulling everyone out of their own thoughts. Tyler stared at Shea, who shrugged when she looked at the phone screen to see an unknown number.

He listened to Shea's side of the conversation, hearing her say, "Oh thank God, Van, you're okay!" Tyler closed his eyes at those words, a rush of relief flooding through his body. Alex ran over to Shea, who put the speaker close to her ear so both could hear Savannah. Tyler would have given anything to hear her voice on the phone, but he was just glad she was calling and was safe. "Yeah, he's here," he heard Shea say before she walked over to him, handing the phone out towards him. "Van wants to talk to you."

His heart rate quickened as he grabbed the phone. "Savannah?"

"Ty?" With that one word, he knew he was in love with her. He almost blurted it out before she continued. "Will you come get me? I need you."

He almost didn't believe the words he heard her say. But, he didn't argue with her or make a big deal that she was telling him that she needed him. "Where are you?"

"The hospital."

So happy that she's not too hurt. so happy she told him that she needed him. he needs her too. it was huge that she admitted she needed him and for her to cry. and I loved that she called his place home and wanted to go to his house without being asked by tyler. love these two.
